Overwatch's semi-regular seasonal event calendar is an important lifeline for a dying game - we might not be getting new game modes or heroes anymore, but at least Blizzard is still throwing new skins at us to keep us entertained between now and Overwatch 2. Here's the latest information on 2021's Winter Wonderland Event - it's the holiday season, after all.

Winter Wonderland 2021 - When does it start?

Blizzard has confirmed that Overwatch's 2021 Winter Wonderland Event is due to start on December 16th - after a short delay - and the teaser offered us a hint at what new skins to expect. You can check it out below.

As you can see, D.Va is finally getting a Winter Wonderland skin - here's a run down of all the skins revealed so far...

Sleighing (Legendary) - D.Va

Reindeer (Legendary) - Orisa

Ice Wraith (Legendary) - Genji

The Winter Wonderland Event is going to run until January 6th 2022 and we're under the impression that Mei's Snowball Offensive, Snowball Deathmatch, Yeti Hunter, and 2020's Freezethaw Elimination will all be returning as limited-time brawl modes.

Possible Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2021 Start Date

We don't fully know officially when the Winter Wonderland 2021 event will start in Overwatch but the last few years all started around the same time. Here's when they took place:

  • 2016 - Started December 13th
  • 2017 - Started December 12th
  • 2018 - Started December 11th
  • 2019 - Started December 10th
  • 2020 - Started December 15th

If the previous years are anything to go off, we can expect 2021's Winter Wonderland to start on December 14, or maybe the week early. Last year's event started at 12 am PT / 7 pm GMT.

What is Winter Wonderland?

Winter Wonderland is Overwatch's Winter themed event, giving some cool icy skins and the return of Holiday-themed modes. In previous years, we saw a Mei-focused snowball mode, a Yeti Hunt and the Snowball Deathmatch.
