As we near the release date we're hoping for an NBA 2K23 PS5 trailer showcasing some of the next gen features.
We already know that a few changes are coming to next gen exclusive game modes such as The W, which now features Community Goals.
Let's go over what's changed and some of the latest trailers.
NBA 2K23 PS5 Release Date
The official NBA 2K23 PS5 release date is September 9, 2022, in line with the release of all the other editions and platforms.
Unfortunately, there won't be any Early Access for the game and there isn't a demo to try out either. The good news is that we should have a few more reveals.
Occasionally, Sony will put out a trailer for a game that shows off how it looks on next gen systems. We're hoping to see one of these with the NBA 2K23 PS5 version.
For now, let's check out the first look trailer that features some next gen gameplay.

First Look Trailer from NBA 2K23
The trailer we have for you below was captured on next gen systems so at least part of it likely came from the NBA 2K23 PS5 version.
What we're hoping for is some exclusive The City news but that has yet to be posted to the website or the official NBA 2K Twitter account.
Here is the first look trailer:
Within the trailer you'll see some new celebrations which were added this year. You'll also see the new "Rim Hang" mechanic that we detailed here.
Although it's not an exclusive NBA 2K23 PS5 trailer, it has some details that we were happy to see. Hopefully, we'll have a few more trailers before launch.
NBA 2K23 Editions available on PS5
There are several editions available for NBA 2K23 on PS5, starting with the Standard Edition which sells for $69.99 on next gen systems.
The next step up would be the Digital Deluxe Edition which goes for $79.99 and has a few more rewards attached to it. You can also still pre order this version.
The Michael Jordan Editions offer the most rewards but also cost the most. The Michael Jordan NBA 2K23 PS5 Edition costs $99.99 and the Championship Edition of the game costs $149.99 but comes with NBA League Pass.
There are several rewards with each edition of the game, which we go over here. You can also check your local GameStop for the WNBA Edition.
The W receives an upgrade on PS5
There's a strong chance that The W receives a lot more attention when NBA 2K23 finally releases on September 9.
The next gen exclusive game mode received an overhaul, providing Community Goals that will extend to areas like The City and MyTEAM.
It's clear that Take Two Studios is attempting to drive engagement to the NBA 2K23 PS5 and Xbox Series X|S platform through The W.
