With the release date for NBA 2K22 rapidly approaching we decided to comb through the NBA 2K22 ratings that have been released so far.
After spending some time on them we realized it'd be a good idea to go over some of the most overrated players in this year's game.
Let's get started on the players we believe should have lower NBA 2K22 ratings.
NBA 2K22 Ratings: Most Overrated Players
Before we start the list, we'd like to say that these opinions are our own and not meant to offend anyone, including the players. We just feel their rating is slightly too high this time around.
Zion Williamson - New Orleans Pelicans - 89 OVR
Zion Williamson, one of the most popular players in the NBA comes in with an NBA 2K22 rating of 89 OVR. Unfortunately, we see a couple of discrepancies here.
For starters, he's essentially a one-dimensional player. Sure on a breakaway, he's a freight train, but there isn't much finesse to his game. This makes it easier for defenses to plan against him.
Lastly, Trae Young, who we consider grossly underrated in NBA 2K22, averaged more points and assists has a better three-point percentage, and free-throw percentage. Still, NBA 2K22 has Trae Young rated the same as Williamson. We'd have Zion Williamson rated as an 86 OVR.
Joel Embid - Philadelphia 76ers - 95 OVR
Joel Embid, the trash-talking big man of the Philadelphia 76ers comes in above many notable NBA superstars. One of these stars is James Harden, the man that has made scoring in the NBA look like taking a walk on the beach.
If you feel like it isn't fair to compare him to a guard that's fine. How about we compare him to league MVP Nikola Jokic? Jokic beats Embiid in points-per-game, assists-per-game, and rebounds-per-game. Our adjustment for Joel Embiid is moving him from 95 OVR to 93 OVR.
LeBron James - Los Angeles Lakers - 96 OVR
Before you get too angry, we understand that many won't feel the same way. The fact is, LeBron James has lost a step, which is no fault of his own. He's still one of the best players in the league.
We can use the NBA MVP Nikola Jokic again as a great comparison. Jokic is a physical player like James, but the offense runs through both of them. Jokic averaged 29.8 ppg, compared to James' 23.3.
Jokic averaged four rebounds per game more than LeBron James and shot better from beyond the arc and the free-throw line. However, Jokic is rated 95 OVR per the NBA 2K22 ratings.
Our adjustment for LeBron James is 94 OVR, making his rating identical to players like James Harden and Damian Lillard.
