Derrick Henry snubbed from top running back rating

Madden 22 ratings continue to roll out, and the latest drop for running backs is one that will be controversial to some fans.

We've got full details on the latest Madden 22 ratings reveal, and who managed to get the number one spot this time.

Derrick Henry snubbed from top running back rating in Madden 22

Madden 22 running back ratings were the next focus set for Ratings Reveal Week, and we've finally learned who gets the top spot this year.

  • Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals - 88 OVR
  • Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Dallas Cowboys - 88 OVR
  • Josh Jacobs, RB, Las Vegas Raiders - 88 OVR
  • Saquon Barkley, RB, New York Giants - 90 OVR
  • Aaron Jones, RB, Green Bay Packers - 91 OVR
  • Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints - 94 OVR
  • Dalvin Cook, RB, Minnesota Vikings - 95 OVR
  • Nick Chubb, RB, Cleveland Browns - 96 OVR
  • Derrick Henry, RB, Tennessee Titans - 96 OVR
  • Christian McCaffrey, RB, Carolina Panthers - 97 OVR

At the very top, we actually have Christian McCaffrey who struggled through injury and played very little at all in 2020.

With this, many believed that Derrick Henry was undeniably the greatest running back in the NFL last year.

KNOCKED OUT: Henry got swept out of the top spot this year

There was hope that Derrick Henry could get the nod as entering the 99 Club this year, but not only did he drop out of that echelon but is rated below McCaffrey.

We did learn about another 99 Club member today in tight end Travis Kelce, which we have more details on here.

McCaffrey spent most of 2020 injured while Henry dominated

If you're looking at career stats and the ways he performed in 2018 and 2019, it's not really a shock to see Christian McCaffrey near the top spot.

However, his performance in 2020 just doesn't justify the position, especially when you compare his stats last season to those of Derrick Henry.

We only saw Christian McCaffrey in a total of three games last year, putting on solid efforts in the first two weeks before going down with a high ankle sprain in the fourth quarter of their second game.

FORMER 99: McCaffrey has joined the club before, but didn't this year

McCaffrey went onto the injured reserve until being activated ahead of the Week 9 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, where McCaffrey suffered a shoulder injury that ended his season.

Meanwhile, Derrick Henry was nothing short of dominant with the Tennessee Titans, and played all 16 games in the 2020 season.

Henry accumulated 2,027 yards throughout the season, averaging 5.4 yards per carry on his way to 17 touchdowns through those 16 games.

Even in his best seasons, McCaffrey had less total yards, less yards per carry, and less touchdowns that Derrick Henry did last year.

There's basically no objective metric that would put McCaffrey as the better running back going into the next season, but Madden 22 apparently decided that even Christian's tiny sample size was enough to put him on top.
