Will PES 2022 be free to play?

First of all, there will no longer be a PES 2022.

Konami will now be releasing eFootball in replacement of the Pro Evolution Soccer series.

NEW BEGINNINGS - You will be able to play the new game for free

eFootball will indeed be completely free-to-play!

So, you will be able to download and play the brand new game for absolutely nothing.

Konami has stated that the game, previously known as PES, will be rebuilt in Unreal Engine and made available on Next-Gen consoles.

eFootball will launch worldwide first on PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and PC Steam, with iOS and Android to follow soon after.

When is eFootball coming out?

We don't yet have an official release date for eFootball - but we know, thanks to the Roadmap, that it will arrive in early Autumn.

PLAN AHEAD - The eFootball roadmap is here

Judging from previous PES releases, we think the new free-to-play game is likely to arrive around Tuesday, 7 September.

Later in Autumn, online leagues will open, and cross-platform matches with console and PC will commence.

For all you die-hard PES fans out there, you should think of it as a re-branding of your beloved Pro Evolution Soccer series.

However, this announcement does suggest that popular game modes like Master League and Become a Legend will be no more - but we don't yet have official confirmation of this.
