Impact Wrestling have today announced that they will be returning to the UK to be a part of the biggest wrestling convention on British shores – Wrestling MediaCon 2018. The live event will be taking place on Sunday 9th September at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester.

This means that Impact will return to the United Kingdom for the first time in more than two years, making their debut appearance under the ownership of Anthem, coinciding as part of a convention that hosts some of the biggest names in professional wrestling as they all come together for a weekend of wrestling action.

Ed Nordholm, the president of Impact Wrestling, had this to say about the announcement:“IMPACT Wrestling has always maintained a strong, dedicated fan-base in the U.K. We are excited to be working closely with Trident Vision Media founder Alex Shane to bring an action-packed show to Manchester and we look forward to a phenomenal weekend of activities featuring IMPACT Wrestling’s biggest stars and some of the most passionate professional wrestling fans in the world.”

And fans who want to see Impact won’t be short of seeing their top stars, with IMPACT World Champion Austin Aries, Alberto El Patron, Johnny Impact, Eli Drake, Moose, Sami Callihan, Eddie Edwards and Matt Sydal all scheduled to attend. The matches for Impact’s return are set to be revealed in the coming months, so make sure you keep an eye out.

Tickets for Impact Wrestling’s live event go on sale next month and can either be purchased alongside a MediaCon pass or as a standalone ticket. However, if you’re planning to attend the two-day event, you must purchase a separate ticket for the show. (Platinum VIP ticket holders excluded.)

So, what is Wrestling MediaCon?

Wrestling MediaCon is a two-day event coming to Manchester, England on the 8th and 9th September 2018. The event brings together some of wrestling’s biggest names for two days of wrestling, meet and greets, panel interviews and more. As well as hosting Impact, Revolution Pro Wrestling UK will also have live show there, with guest matches over the weekend from Defiant, NWA and more. This’ll be the first time the event has been held in the UK. Tickets can be purchased for the one-off weekend here.

What does this mean for Impact?

Well, it is a huge positive for Impact Wrestling. After a turbulent few years with court cases, ownership issues and a move across the border to Canada, going abroad for a show is a huge statement of intent. This is a sign that the Impact ship could finally be steady again and allow them to really move forward as a company and make amends to fans for their sordid past.

It’s a great thing to see another wrestling company flourish and make use of the huge boom in wrestling on British shores right now, as wrestling here has really taken off in the last few years. They still might have a way to go but planning shows across the pond is a real positive sign for Impact and shows that the owners have faith in the product. Anthem have really improved Impact and it’s wonderful to see them being as ambitious as ever before and returning to the UK.
