FIFA 23 is just around the corner, with the brand new World Cup mode confirmed for arrival in this year's game.
With that in mind, we want to take a look at a brand new concept that could completely change the state of play.
With the Icon roster set for a boost in FIFA 23, we want to take a look at some World Cup-specific legends that could completely revolutionise the mode.
FIFA 23 World Cup Legends
World Cups come around every four years, and that leads to many one-off performances that go down in tournament history.
Whether it's the hugely memorable Bafana Bafana celebrations in South Africa, or the incredible thumping of Brazil in Rio, the World Cup always throws up some incredible moments.
It isn't only the occasion that delights, with certain players also making a name for themselves on the biggest stage of all.
In FIFA 23, we would like to see World Cup legends introduced, honouring players that have lit up past tournaments and deserve to be remembered.
With a World Cup extension once again set to bring a new spin to Ultimate Team, we would like these special cards to be specific to the mode.
In the past, we saw boosts handed out to specific cards already existing in the game, but the arrival of World Cup legends could take the mode to the very next level.
Who Could Be Included?
There is a name of players that could be included in the list of World Cup legends, with stars like Pele and David Villa surely worth a mention.
That being said, we'd like to see these players be exclusive to the Ultimate Team extension, with some forgotten stars certain to be in with a shout.
Asamoah Gyan
A World Cup legend who aided Ghana in a memorable 2010 campaign, Asamoah Gyan is a player that screams nostalgia.
A fantastic goalscorer who always delighted for his country, we think this card would bring memories flooding back for many football fans.
Siphiwe Tshabalala
Siphiwe Tshabalala is not only one of the great names to ever feature in a football match, he was also an icon of the 2010 World Cup.
Scoring the opening goal for the host nation and bringing many great memories to the people of South Africa, it would be great to see this man return in FIFA 23.
Guillermo Ochoa
Guillermo Ochoa turns up in big tournaments, with the Mexican shot-stopper becoming a true hero for his country across the 2010 and 2014 competitions.
A memorable 'keeper with a memorable haircut, there's no doubting that this Mexican ace would be welcomed in with warm arms in FIFA 23.
FIFA 23 World Cup Mode
Prolific leaker DonkTrading has taken to Twitter to confirm that the World Cup mode in FIFA 23 will be arriving as DLC.
Much like in previous years, we are expecting the World Cup mode to be an extension of the pre-existing game, with a new aesthetic brought to the special mode.
Another piece of exciting news is that the Women's World Cup has also been rumoured to feature in the new game, which could give an indication of greater inclusion of the Women's game in FIFA 23.
EA Sports has already confirmed that the World Cup will feature in FIFA 23 as part of their split announcement with the FIFA franchise.
