FIFA 23's most overpowered mechanic NERFED in Title Update #4

Yet another Title Update has hit FIFA 23 in and amongst the 2022 Qatar World Cup madness that is currently ongoing in Ultimate Team.

Title Update #4 brings us plenty of gameplay changes, bug fixes and menu adjustments in Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs and VOLTA.

One adjustment stands out above the rest, however, with EA nerfing the most overpowered mechanic in the entire game right now.

We're taking a look at the most significant change that arrived in Title Update #4 and how it will affect the FIFA 23 gameplay moving forward.

Trivela shots nerfed

The attention-grabbing alteration from FIFA 23's Title Update #4 is the adjustment to the effectiveness of the outside of the foot, or 'Trivela' shot.

The following changes have been made to this technique in Title Update #4:

  • Reduced accuracy of outside of the foot shots by up to 30%.
    • Players with the Outside The Foot Shot Trait are also impacted by this change, but only by up to 10%.

So, EA has made it more difficult to score with the outside-the-foot shot technique.

This makes a lot of sense, given that the Trivela shot is one of the hardest techniques to perfect in football, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Joao Cancelo masters of the art.

The reduction in the effectiveness of the Trivela shot will come as a welcome change for many FUT fanatics.

Players had become accustomed to conceding ridiculous long-range outside-the-foot shots that would never be scored in real life, which can be extremely frustrating.

However, it seems the Trivela shot is not lost completely in FIFA 23, with certain players still able to perform the incredibly overpowered technique.

Meta still intact

Despite the Trivela shot being nerfed, it is still one of the most effective ways of scoring from outside the box.

There are two ways of ensuring your Trivela shot will be as powerful and accurate as it can possibly be in FIFA 23.

Firstly, you'll want to find players with the outside-the-foot shot trait, which has now become one of the most important attributes in the game as these players' Trivela shots have only been affected by 10% rather than 30%.

Secondly, if you can perfect your timed finishing your long shot will be significantly better, with the Green-Timed finish proving almost impossible to stop without your opponent manually moving the goalkeeper'.

If your selected player does not possess the outside-the-foot shot trait, you should not attempt to score the outrageous long-range Trivela goals that were previously possible.

Instead, look to find somebody on the edge of the box with a strong foot that suits the traditional finesse shot with the inside of the foot.

The finesse shot is as, if not more, effective at finding the far post top corner with a curling effort following the Title Update #4 changes.
