Leicester City needs you in FIFA 23 Career Mode after slipping back into mediocrity from the dizzy heights of UCL football.
There is some top talent already in the squad, but there is certainly some work to do in the transfer window.
With an overhaul required, a Leicester save in FIFA 23 Career Mode can be a lot of fun!
Team Rating
Leicester has a 4.5-star rating in FIFA 23, with a 79 OVR.
The breakdown of the ratings is as follows: ATT 80, MID 80, DEF 78.
Starting Lineup and Formation
After Kasper Schmeichel's departure in the summer, Welsh stopper Danny Ward (OVR 74) is the new number one.
Portuguese star Ricardo Pereira (OVR 83) and Timothy Castagne (OVR 78) should be your choice at full-back.
Experienced Jonny Evans (OVR 79) is the highest-rated CB in the squad, but you may want to consider pairing Wout Faes (OVR 77) and Caglar Soyuncu (OVR 78) instead.
Wilfried Ndidi (OVR 84) and Youri Tielemans (OVR 84) provide a solid platform in midfield, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (OVR 75) adding some extra energy alongside.
The Foxes are lacking options on the wing, forcing James Maddison (OVR 83) out wide when his best position is in CAM.
Harvey Barnes (OVR 80) and 35-year-old striker Jamie Vardy (OVR 84) complete the rest of the lineup.
Tactics and Instructions
With Leicester currently in a 4-3-3, we would consider switching to a 4-2-3-1 to allow Tielemans to sit deeper alongside Ndidi and dictate the play.
This would then allow Maddison into his favoured CAM role, although a new winger is required.
All the full-back options at Leicester are great going forward, although we would also prefer a naturally left-footed left-back to compete with Luke Thomas.
Either way, get your full-backs on Overlap while leaving your CDMs on Stay Back While Attacking.
Development Plans
There aren't too many changes we would make to Leicester's development plans straight away.
Ndidi can thrive at CB so that is an option, while Harvey Barnes can make a seamless transition into a CAM.
Both James Justin and Castagne are more suited to wing-back rather than full-back, so five at the back is also another route you could go down.
Transfer Market
Starting budget: £71 million
Who should go?
It really is time for a clear-out at Leicester, and it is time to put sentiment to one side.
We have highlighted no less than ten players that we think should be moved on to boost your transfer budget and free up some wages.
It will be sad to see Marc Albrighton go, but he is now surplus to requirements in the current squad.
Danny Ward, Alex Smithies, Nampalys Mendy, Ryan Bertrand, and Jannik Vestergaard can all be sold too.
Transfer List:
- Marc Albrighton (OVR 75)
- Jannik Vestergaard (OVR 75)
- Danny Ward (OVR 74)
- Ryan Bertrand (OVR 74)
- Nampalys Mendy (OVR 74)
- Alex Smithies (OVR 71)
- Kasey McAteer (OVR 60)
- Wanya Marcal (OVR 60)
- Thanawat Suengchitthawon (OVR 59)
- Lewis Brunt (OVR 57)
This should bring in around £17 million in the transfer budget, and also free up £300k in wages.
Loans
Teenage duo Sammy Braybrooke and Tawanda Maswanhise could both go out on loan as both can reach a decent overall.
Centre-back Ben Nelson is currently out on loan and worth keeping tabs on for the future.
Who to Sign
A new goalkeeper should be the top priority for you, and this should be someone who you won't need to replace for years to come.
Your new number one should cost no more than £30 million, leaving plenty of cash for other signings.
Porto's Diogo Costa (OVR 79) will be the most expensive option, but he is also our top pick.
Justin Bijlow (OVR 78) and Alban Lafont (OVR 80) are also solid options.
Transfer Targets (GK)
Player | Age | Club | Cost | Wage | OVR | POT |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Diogo Costa | 22 | Porto | £26m | £9k | 79 | 86 |
Luis Maximiano | 23 | Lazio | £19m | £28k | 79 | 85 |
Justin Bijlow | 24 | Feyenoord | £21m | £7k | 78 | 85 |
Alban Lafont | 23 | Nantes | £22m | £18k | 80 | 85 |

Ugurcan Cakir | 26 | Trabzonspor | £19m | £28k | 80 | 84 |
More options on the wing are required at Leicester to allow Maddison creative license behind the striker.
We are looking for an injection of pace to hit teams quickly on the counterattack.
Portuguese speedster Rafa (OVR 82) is a great option and he has pace to burn with 92 Acceleration.
Napoli's Hirving Lozano (OVR 81) and out-of-favour Spurs star Lucas Moura (OVR 80) are also rapid options.

Board Expectations
The Leicester job is fairly secure in FIFA 23 with not much pressure being applied by the board.
Brand Exposure is the main concern for the board as it carries a high priority, so make sure to bring in some big-name signings.
Domestic Success and Continental Success have medium priorities, so any success on this front will be well received.
Youth Development and Financial are both low on the list of priorities, so you don't need to focus too much here.
