January Nominees
The official EA Sports FIFA Twitter account has revealed the nominees for La Liga's January Player of the Month award.
The official La Liga POTM nominees are as follows:
- Dani Parejo
- Ivan Rakatic
- Marc-Andre ter Stegen
- Karim Benzema
- Aitor
- Joselu
- Alexander Sorloth
Dani Parejo (OVR 89)
33-year-old Spanish centre-mid Dani Parejo really is the heartbeat of the Villareal team.
His penalty in the 10th minute of extra time against Girona saw his side claim two wins and one draw from three matches in January, including an historic victory over Real Madrid.
Ivan Rakatic (OVR 86)
Croatian central midfielder Ivan Rakatic has been in sensational form for Sevilla of late.
Two assists and one goal in a month where his side picked up two victories could see the veteran CM pick up the award.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen (OVR 89)
Germany international GK Marc-Andre ter Stegen is back to his world-class best and is one of the key reasons Barcelona sit top of the La Liga table.
The 30-year-old kept two clean sheets in the two league matches Barca played in January, helping his side secure six points from six.
Karim Benzema (OVR 93)
2022 Ballon d'Or winner and now Team of the Year (TOTY) squad member Karim Benzema could be set for yet another special card in Ultimate Team.
The Frenchman's two goals in two appearances is impressive, although Real Madrid only managed two in one of their two matches.
Aitor (OVR 83)
Spanish goalkeeper Aitor Fernandez has been superb for CA Osasuna since the turn of the year.
Although he wouldn't be the most popular POTM winner among FIFA players, his performance level should not go unnoticed.
Joselu (OVR 88)
Two goals and one assist in three appearances puts Joselu right up there in contention for this month's award.
RCD Espanyol also went unbeaten in the league throughout the month of January, winning two matches and drawing one.
Alexander Sorloth (OVR 85)
Alexander Sorloth is becoming an absolute goal machine for Real Sociedad.
The Norway international striker scored in every single La Liga match he played during the month of January, helping his side to three wins from three.
