Top Contenders

Although some of these stars haven't made the list of nominees, there were several outstanding players from the Bundesliga during January.

Lars Stindl

Lars Stindl had a very productive couple of matches in January, missing out on playing all three due to a yellow card suspension.

His two goals weren't enough to see off Bayer Leverkusen, but he followed them up with a goal and an assist against Hoffenheim in a 4-1 away win!

Ellyes Skhiri

Koln steadied the ship in January after losing the last three matches before the World Cup break, with a win and two draws.

They started back strong, demolishing Werder Bremen 7-1, with Ellyes Skhiri bagging a brace and an assist - his first goal contributions in the league this season.

He scored another goal against league leaders Bayern Munich, which looked enough to get a victory before a last-minute equaliser, then helped his side keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw.

Jonas Wind

Jonas Wind missed the start of the season with a hamstring injury but has now worked his way back into the Wolfsburg squad, bringing goals with him.

He got a brace in the 6-0 win over Freiburg, followed that up with another in the 5-0 victory over Hertha, but missed out on the scoresheet in a 2-1 loss in the final game of the month.

Andre Silva

RB Leipzig is just a couple of points off top spot Bayern Munich now, with their first match in January a draw against the current champions (which Munich followed up with two more as they saw their points lead decrease).

Andre Silva didn't score in that game, but got a brace in the 6-1 win over Schalke, before providing an assist for a vital second goal which saw them beat Stuttgart 2-1.

Danilho Doekhi

Union Berlin's incredible season continues and they are just one point behind Bayern Munich after victory in all three January matches.

New recruit Danilho Doekhi could be a surprise favourite for the Player of the Month award, with the CB scoring twice against Hoffenheim in a 3-1 victory, then again against Hertha, as well as helping to keep a sixth league clean sheet of the season.
