Bayern Munich is one of the world's biggest clubs, and their current squad makes them great to manage in FIFA 23 Career Mode too.
Their squad possesses a blend of talented youngsters and established superstars that can challenge the very best in the world.
With explosive attackers, classy midfielders, and reliable defenders, this really is a team capable of winning it all.
Team Rating
Bayern Munich has a five-star rating in FIFA 23, with an 84 OVR.
The breakdown of the ratings is as follows: ATT 86, MID 85, DEF 82.
Starting Lineup and Formation
The default formation for Bayern Munich is the 4-2-2-2, however, we would switch to a 4-2-3-1 to utilise the pacey forwards within the squad.
Starting with the goalkeeper, it is veteran stopper Manuel Neuer (OVR 90) between the sticks.
Summer signing Noussair Mazraoui (OVR 82) and Canadian speedster Alphonso Davies (OVR 84) should start at right and left-back respectively.
We would opt for a centre-back pairing of Matthijs de Ligt (OVR 85) and Lucas Hernandez (OVR 84), although Dayot Upamecano (OVR 81) is also a great option.
To hold the fort in midfield should be German pair Joshua Kimmich (OVR 89) and Leon Goretzka (OVR 87). An elite pairing.
Experienced German international Thomas Muller (OVR 87) is our pick in CAM, although 19-year-old Jamal Musiala (OVR 82) is close to a starting berth.
The front three can be adapted in any way that suits you, with Sadio Mane (OVR 89), Kingsley Coman (OVR 86), Leroy Sane (OVR 84), and Serge Gnabry (OVR 84) all capable of playing anywhere across the attack.
One of those attacking superstars will need to be benched, joining the likes of Upamecano, Musiala, and Ryan Gravenberch (OVR 79) as impact subs.
Tactics and Instructions
We are a big fan of the default instructions, although you may want your defensive line a bit deeper than the 81 they have set now.
Chances are that you will dominate possession with this team, so packing the box with players and using a Slow Build-Up is the best way to go.
For individual player instructions, you want to set one of your CDMs, Joshua Kimmich, to Stay Back While Attacking.
With the attacking talent on the field, we like to keep the front line as balanced as possible to make use of both their physical and technical attributes.
Development Plans
Without the use of any true CMs in the starting XI, you may want to look at adjusting the primary positions for Ryan Gravenberch, Leon Goretzka, and Marcel Sabitzer.
French defender Benjamin Pavard is also most suited to a role at centre-back, so we would suggest making this transition too.
Transfer Market
Starting budget: £106 million
Who should go?
With just 23 players in the first-team squad, Bayern Munich is not in a position to sell too many players.
There are four players that we would look to offload though as they have no business being around a squad challenging for European glory in FIFA 23.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (OVR 75), Sven Ulreich (OVR 75), Bouna Sarr (OVR 73), and Johannes Schenk can all be put up for transfer.
The sale of these players will add around £7 million to your transfer budget, and free up £105k in wages.
Loans
With such a small squad, we would not look to loan any more players out in the first season.
There are five players currently out on loan, and goalkeeper Alexander Nubel (OVR 78) is worth keeping in the squad for next season, or even recalling from loan.
Youngsters Malik Tillman (OVR 66) and Bright Akwo Arrey-Mbi (OVR 62) are also promising young players that should be monitored closely.
Who to Sign
Bayern Munich needs a striker, and preferably a target man with some physicality to offer something different to the forward line.
We are looking for a striker over 6'3" (190cm), and there are some truly incredible strikers that fit the bill.
Unfortunately, Erling Haaland, Romelu Lukaku, Alexander Isak, and Gianluca Scamacca are all unavailable to sign in the first season.
However, Patrick Schick (OVR 85), Dusan Vlahovic (OVR 84), and Tammy Abraham (OVR 82) are all excellent alternatives.
Transfer Targets (ST)
Player | Age | Club | Cost | Wage | OVR | POT |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Erling Haaland | 21 | Man City | £127m | £189k | 88 | 94 |
Romelu Lukaku | 29 | Inter (on loan) | £59m | £172k | 86 | 86 |
Patrick Schick | 26 | Bayer Leverkusen | £58m | £82k | 85 | 87 |
Dusan Vlahovic | 22 | Juventus | £74m | £120k | 84 | 91 |
Tammy Abraham | 24 | Roma | £36m | £66k | 82 | 85 |
Alexander Isak | 22 | Newcastle | £28m | £77k | 80 | 85 |
Gianluca Scamacca | 23 | West Ham | £29m | £63k | 80 | 86 |
Cover for Alphonso Davies is needed, so a young left-back should be signed to play in cup competitions, or in his absence.
Future potential is key for this signing, and Wolves' Rayan Ait Nouri (OVR 76) is one of the most promising left-backs in the game.
Luca Netz (OVR 73) and Piero Hincapie (OVR 78) are also good options from the Bundesliga.

The board's demands don't stop there, with Brand Exposure also critical to your success as the gaffer.
This could mean signing players from a particular region, bringing in known superstars, or maintaining strong records at your home stadium.
Fortunately, you won't be restricted financially, with the board placing a medium priority on their Financial targets.
Lastly, Youth Development is of high priority, so you can't just nick the best players from around the Bundesliga!
