The Team of the Year has come to FIFA 22 Ultimate Team!
Over the next week expect to see the full XI coming into packs, with the forwards the first available.
Check out who makes up the TOTY Attackers below, as well as all the latest Team of the Year news.
Latest - Attackers released
Team of the Year cards have now been released into Ultimate Team!
As was the case last year the forwards are leading the way, with Mbappe, Lewandowski and Messi available in packs.
We now have the official confirmation on their stats too, which matches the leaks we saw earlier, and you can check out below.
Ultimate XI revealed
The time has come, with EA announcing the Team of the Year Ultimate XI.
As always, there will be much discussion as to whether the final XI are the most deserving, with Mohamed Salah missing out despite having an incredible year.
Whoever you think should have been included, what can't be denied is that this will be a phenomenal team.
Now we just wait to see their full stats...
Attackers go first
Will we see the Team of the Year attackers arrive in packs first this year?
In FIFA 21, the attackers were the first mini-release of the Team of the Year promo, so we could see EA stick to the same schedule.
If attackers are first, followed by midfielders, and then defenders (and goalkeepers), we could see all the TOTY players released into packs on Friday, 28 January.
TOTY Schedule
With the official release dates of Team of the Year players yet to be announced, these are the dates we know so far.
TOTY Schedule:
- Friday, 7 January - Forward Nominees revealed
- Saturday, 8 January - Midfield Nominees revealed
- Sunday, 9 January - Defender & Goalkeeper Nominees revealed
- Monday, 10 January - Voting begins
- Tuesday, 18 January - Voting closes
- Thursday, 20 January - TOTY revealed
This suggests that the first Team of the Year cards will arrive in packs on Friday, 21 January, but that is yet to be confirmed, so keep an eye out for a loading screen!
Awesome Attackers
Forwards dominated the shortlist last year, with 26 out of the 70 nominees being attackers.
With only three spots available, some massive names will be missing out, which was what happened to Lionel Messi last year - although he was included as the 12th man.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe were the 2021 winners, with CR7 missing out this time.
Despite PSG failing to claim a league title their players still picked up two of the three available spots.
Take a look at the three winners below.
Robert Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski will have been one of the first names in the TOTY XI.
A record-breaking goalscoring season last campaign has been followed up by more this term, with many seeing Messi winning the Balon d'Or as a travesty.
He is the best central striker in the world, and his numbers back that up.
Lionel Messi
The 12th Player inclusion last year, Lionel Messi had an edge over his rivals to be included in the XI after winning the Balon d'Or.
He claimed a record-setting eighth La Liga Golden Boot before leaving Barcelona, then captained Argentina for his first national trophy in the Copa America.
If it were any other player his five Champions League goals in five games, and six league goal involvements for PSG would be impressive, but people are used to seeing Messi deliver greater numbers.
Kylian Mbappe
Another year, another Golden Boot for Kylian Mbappe.
42 goals and 11 assists in 47 games is some going for PSG, and he hasn't let up this season, already eclipsing his assists tally and with 18 goals and counting.
We've come to expect it of him now, but we mustn't forget what an unbelievable talent Mbappe is.
