We have already seen plenty of rumours ahead of FIFA 22, with the likes of Cafu already linked as a potential new Icon player.
The new game is not too far away, with more news seemingly surfacing each day as we prepare for what could be a truly epic game.
The latest news has seen another legend 'confirmed' as a new Icon in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, and it's a big one!
Latest - di Stefano ratings leaked
According to @FutWatch on Twitter, di Stefano is set to receive a 90 OVR and 92 OVR card next season.
How reliable this new information is remains to be seen, but those stats look incredible!
Fingers crossed we do see these ratings for the legendary forward as he would be a welcome addition to the game.
Release date
There is no word on when FIFA 22 will officially be released, but we can have a pretty accurate guess judging from what we have seen in the past.
FIFA 22 will likely be released between Friday, 24 September, and Friday, 8 October 2021, judging by the release in previous years (excluding last year's delay).
Ultimate Team
The most popular and lucrative mode in the FIFA franchise is Ultimate Team, so this is where EA focuses its efforts.
Expect to see some new features, designs, and promo events throughout the year as EA will try to keep things fresh.
It is rumoured that several players will be returning to the game as Icon players in Ultimate Team.
We would love this to be true as the seven players named are deserving of a place among the Icon elite. Take a look at the potential new FIFA 22 Icons including Spanish maestro Xabi Alonso.
Goal Machine
The latest in a long line of linked new Icons is legendary Real Madrid forward Alfredo di Stefano.
During his time at Real Madrid, di Stefano amassed 266 goals in 344 matches as Madrid claimed eight league titles and five European titles.
He is also part of an elite club that has represnted two different national teams having played for both Argentina and Spain (scoring for both too).
Could we see his Icon cards showing two different nations as they represent different stages of his legendary career?
Trend-setter
There is already an existing Icon player that has played for two international teams.
Lethal striker Ferenc Puskas represented both Hungary and Spain, yet all his Icon cards are from Hungary.
Puskas only made four appearances for Spain late on in his career and did not score, so it is easy to see why his Icon cards don't show this.
His record for Hungary is outrageous though, with a total of 84 goals in just 85 appearances!
