FIFA 22 Ultimate Team is set to welcome back a fan favourite promo in the coming days, with the Future Stars campaign returning.
In celebration of this, we're taking a look back at some of Ultimate Team's best Future Stars cards over the years and whether they have lived up to their once high expectations since.
Future Stars
Future Stars is a promotional event in Ultimate Team with special Future Stars player cards handed out to the most promising youngsters in world football.
Only players who are aged 23 or younger will be eligible for a Future Stars card.
These Future Stars cards will represent players at the expected pinnacle of their careers, rather than right now.
Ruben Dias (OVR 88)
It's absolutely crazy to think that Ruben Dias was eligible for a Future Stars card only last year, with the world-class defender seeming so accomplished at the age of just 24.
The Portugal international has since been deservedly included in the FIFA 22 Team of the Year (TOTY) squad with an incredible 97 OVR card.
Bukayo Saka (OVR 90)
Arsenal wonderkid Bukayo Saka is still very much on course to reach his FIFA 20 90 OVR Future Stars card in a few years time.
The winger nailed down a starting spot in Gareth Southgate's England Euro 2020 squad and despite missing the decisive penalty in the final was one of the heroes of the tournament.
Erling Haaland (OVR 92)
Erling Haaland has now scored 80 goals whilst providing 21 assists in 79 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and might just break every record in history at the rate he is going at.
The sensational striker has attracted the attention of every big European club and will have the pick of where he wants to play his football next at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Joao Felix (OVR 92)
Joao Felix is another player whose Future Stars card was rated at 92 OVR in FIFA 20, however, the Portuguese forward has not delivered anywhere near the same output as Haaland.
Atletico Madrid broke the bank when they signed Felix in 2019 for a fee of £113 million, but the 22-year-old has only shown glimpses of brilliance since his arrival.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (OVR 89)
Alexander-Arnold has been simply sensational since he burst onto the scene for Liverpool and already has 43 Premier League assists to his name.
To say that Trent has reached the level of this FIFA 19 Future Stars card would be an understatement, given he is already in the conversation for the best right-back in Premier League history at the age of 23.
Kai Havertz (OVR 90)
Kai Havertz was outstanding for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga for two seasons and was dubbed as the next big thing to come out of Germany.
However, since his £70 million move to Chelsea in the summer of 2020, the 22-year-old has failed to impress English supporters, apart from his Champions League-winning goal... Of course.
