2023 is set to be a big year in the world of sports games as we are set for new titles and big changes to some existing franchises.
Like with anything, competition will push developers to make better games, so we should see publishers going all out to get ahead of their rivals.
We are also set to see a huge franchise take its game to a new platform, so keep your eyes peeled!
EA Sports PGA Tour
After a year's delay, EA Sports PGA Tour is finally set for release in the Spring of 2023.
2K's PGA Tour franchise has had a monopoly on golf games on consoles, so this will be the first real challenger for the title of best golf game!
All the major events will be fully licensed in EA's new title too, an early positive for EA Sports PGA Tour.
We can't wait to get our hands on this one, so our fingers are crossed EA has put the year delay to good use.
Football Manager (PS5)
This does not quite come into the new games category, but the arrival of Football Manager 23 on console is hugely exciting.
There is still no word on the new release date for the game since the PS5 version's indefinite delay.
The radio silence has led many fans to believe that the release of FM23 on PS5 will be cancelled, which would be a crushing blow for many fans eager to get into the action on their console.
However, with no word of that yet, we are still hopeful of the game arriving sooner rather than later!
EA Sports FC
What lies in store for the future of EA's biggest sports title?
The FIFA franchise is coming to an end and will be replaced by EA Sports FC in 2023, and that is about as much as we know so far!
EA has struck a deal with LaLiga which means the game will offer a highlights service, so we could see a Netflix-style offering but for football.
How EA manages the transition remains to be seen, but we still expect the basic building blocks of the FIFA titles to remain consistent.
