How Long Does It Take To Beat The Ascent

Neon Giant's debut game, The Ascent, has just been released on Xbox and PC and is also part of Xbox Game Pass. This indie studio, comprised of just 12 developers, has some incredible titles on their CV.

With The Ascent now released, we take a look at how long it takes to beat the game whether you're rushing to the end or stopping to smell the roses. Here's, on average, how long it takes to beat The Ascent.

The Ascent Main Story Completion Time

If you're only interested in experiencing the main story of The Ascent, Neon Giant have ensured you can do just that. There are no requirements to venture off the beaten path and take side quests to fill time.

Overall, the main story can take anywhere between 10-15 hours depending on how quickly you adapt to the game, effective usage of the in-game fast travelling and not dying a whole bunch of times to the massive bosses.

The Ascent Full Game Completion Time

If you're someone who likes to experience every dark corner of a game, you can do just that with The Ascent. There are plenty of side missions available to take on, some of which are outrageous and hilarious.

If you want the completionist experience with The Ascent, you can expect to put around 15-20 hours into the game. Side missions are picked up throughout the various safe areas in the game and usually take a few minutes to complete given that you have access to nearby fast travel points (either metro or taxi).

All in all, The Ascent is packed full of content for an indie title but is also quite narrative-driven. This is why structured missions make up more of the game than open-world exploration. If you want to know if this game is for you, you can also check out our review of the game here.
