WWE 2K22 on Nintendo Switch

WWE 2K22 was formally confirmed with key details on Thursday, January 20, 2022, and that reveal included several major pieces of the puzzle.

We learned there will be a Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and nWo 4 Life Edition as well as that the title's official release date is March 11, 2022.

Unfortunately, when it comes to platforms we have bad news for Nintendo Switch fans. As of now, there is no planned release for WWE 2K22 on Switch.

The five platforms detailed when WWE 2K22 was confirmed are PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The last WWE title to land on Nintendo Switch was WWE 2K Battlegrounds, but that abandoned the simulation formula we've seen over the years in favor of an arcade aesthetic and gameplay style.

Among the core series, the last title to hit Nintendo Switch was WWE 2K18 which launched on Switch in December of 2017. That release was delayed a full two months after it had hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One in October of the same year.

Will WWE 2K22 ever release on Nintendo Switch?

There's a ray of optimism here, as we've seen a few signs that a WWE 2K22 on Switch release isn't completely out of the question.

Due to the delay seen the last time they jumped to Switch, it's possible that in the coming months after this initial launch we could see Visual Concepts reveal a Switch version.

On top of that, we know can translate things to Switch as the same developer works on NBA 2K22 and that game did successfully launch on Nintendo Switch last year.

THE LEGEND: Rey Mysterio graces the cover, but unfortunately not one for Switch

More than likely, the biggest hurdle is that the upgrades they've made both visually and within the core gameplay and structure of the title could be too much for the Switch hardware to handle.

If that's the case, we also might see them do something similar to how EA Sports handled their most recent FIFA launch. FIFA 22 was given a Legacy Edition on Nintendo Switch, and this alternative version without some of those next gen upgrades was given a slightly lower price.

Unfortunately we'll just have to wait and see if Visual Concepts or WWE Games ever announces a Nintendo Switch version of WWE 2K22, but as of now it looks like fans may have to wait and hope to see WWE 2K23 hit the console.
