Roblox's Adopt Me Developers breaking out into their own studio

It has been revealed today that the team behind Adopt Me, the hit Roblox game, are breaking out and forming their own development studio, Uplift Games.

Having launched in the summer of 2017, the Roblox title boasts over 22 billion visits to date and "set a new world record for concurrent players on Roblox, hitting 1.92 million CCU with their latest Ocean Egg update," back in April.

The success of the team has been impressive, with the team saying that "year-on-year revenue has also seen sustained and considerable growth, recording an increase of over 400% in 2020."

New Adopt Me Studio

The new studio, called Uplift Games, has now expanded to "40-strong game studio, including a mix of experienced Roblox creators and veteran developers."

As they break out, they'll continue to work on Adopt Me, on top of "future unannounced projects."

They're committed to create a studio that gives employees freedom. As the announcement says, "The studio has an ambitious mission statement to deliver a healthy and inclusive working environment, while operating a hugely successful self-funded game."

Josh Ling, Director of Business Operations for Uplift Games, had the following to say about the new studio:

“While we’ve been developing Adopt Me as a team for almost four years now, Uplift Games is a huge step forward in bringing our vision to the games industry. Our diverse team combines the best people from the worlds of Roblox and traditional game development, and we are so excited to continue building top Metaverse experiences in flexible and sustainable ways.”

The studio well known members, NewFissy and Bethink, have also released an open letter to the Adopt Me and Roblox community, outlining the reasons for the change and what it means for the studio moving forward.
