PS5 News Today March 20: New games, no more scalping

The PS5 is shaping up to be one of the most popular consoles of all time, with it currently outselling the PS4 during the same point of its lifecycle.

Here is all of the latest news from stock updates to the latest games.

Forspoken Coming In 2022

During the recent Square Enix Presents event, it was revealed that Forspoken, previously known as Project Athia, will be coming to PS5 and PC in 2022.

"Forspoken is an action RPG where you will take on the role of Frey Holland, an ordinary young woman who must harness her magical abilities to survive in a fantastical and dangerous land called Athia. As Frey, you will embark on a thrilling, other-worldly adventure and face treacherous trials to unravel the mystery behind the unknown land of Athia and awaken something much more from within."

PS5 No Longer Profitable For Scalpers

This is incredible news for anyone still looking to secure a PS5.

Due to CEX's recent price drop and the market evening out on platforms such as eBay, scalping the next-gen system isn't very profitable anymore, which should open up the market for regular gamers now and make purchasing much easier, especially as stock is released in larger numbers.

CEX will now just give £450 for a boxed PS5, the same price as the console costs to purchase.

eBay still sees the console sell for around £550-600, but this is far lower than the £900 the console was selling for just a few weeks ago.

PS5 UK Stock - Instant Updates recently tweeted that,

"Due to recent drops, its unprofitable to sell a PS5 to CEX! Average prices for a PS5 on eBay have dropped to £550!"

New Games

There are a few games releasing over the next week on PS5 that are worth checking out.

The first is It Takes Two, a new co-op game from EA.

"Invite a friend to join online co-op for free with Friend’s Pass, and experience a thrilling adventure built purely for two. Choose from online or couch co-op with split-screen play, and face ever-changing challenges where working together is the only way forward."

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 will also see a next-gen port released on March 26th.

First released back in September 2020, THPS 1+2 will come to the new systems with improved resolution and frame rates, putting it closer to its PC counterpart.

If you missed out on the game last year, now is a perfect time to play it, it is as good as you remember the original games being.
