NHL 22 Ratings: All Player Rating Reveals, Best Defenders, Goalies & RW's

NHL 22 ratings continue to roll in and next up is the Right Wingers and boy, do we have some controversy.

At this point, the NHL 22 release date is less than two weeks away, so here's everything we know about NHL 22 ratings and every player rating that's been announced so far.

Latest - Top 10 Right-Wingers revealed

The top 10 Right Wingers in NHL 22 have been revealed and there's room for debate that there are a few misses on this list.

Patrick Kane and Nikita Kucherov are both rated 92 closely followed by the Bruins' Pastrnak at 91. Based on the last few seasons, it's easy to make a case for Kucherov being rated higher and Kane falling down the list. His hip injury caused him to miss last season but he returned with a vengeance in the playoffs scoring 32 points in 23 games leading the Bolts to back-to-back Stanley Cups.

Mitch Marner is also only rated 90 despite scoring 134 points across his last 114 games.

Top 10 Defenders announced with their ratings

The latest NHL 22 ratings reveal has landed, and this time we've learned about the best defenders that will be seen in the game.

  • Victor Hedman, 92 Rating
  • Roman Josi, 90 Rating
  • John Carlson, 90 Rating
  • Alex Pietrangelo, 89 Rating
  • Cale Makar, 88 Rating
  • Dougie Hamilton, 88 Rating
  • Thomas Chabot, 88 Rating
  • Adam Fox, 87 Rating
  • Charlie McAvoy, 87 Rating
  • Zach Werenski, 87 Rating

While maybe not the best known players, having good defenders can make a world of difference on the ice and be a major boon if you've also got a decent goalie.

NHL 22 Cover Athlete Overall Rating Revealed

It looks like we're finally going to get some overall rating reveals, and things got kicked off with Cover Athlete Auston Matthews!

While they teased him a bit with the reveal, suggesting it would be just an 82 overall, they did confirm a 92 OVR rating for Matthews in NHL 22.

This will likely put him near the top, but probably not make Auston Matthews the highest rated player in NHL 22.

We got the first drop at Noon ET on Monday, September 27, 2021, so we're hoping to see more overall reveals for NHL 22 ratings at the same time later this week.

Team Ratings and Roster Updates on the horizon

With NHL 22 ratings now starting to get dropped, we're sure to see plenty more as players and their overall ratings, as well as the elite group at other skills, continue to be revealed.

However, another big thing on the horizon is Team Ratings, which are always controversial and it's no surprise that most fans tend to feel their team deserved a higher rating.

With a stacked roster and being defending champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning are all but guaranteed to be the highest rated team in NHL 22, but the race for the rest of the pack could be hotly contested.

CHI-TOWN: There's no doubt Blackhawks fans believe they're among the best

The Chicago Blackhawks and Colorado Avalanche are likely to not be too far behind, with each team having the potential to take one of the top spots when NHL 22 ratings roll in for each team.

We can also count on roster updates right as the title goes live, with NHL 22 early access landing the same day as the opening game in this year's NHL season.

With Madden 22 seeing a regular roster update each week, we could see a frequent NHL 22 roster update start to roll in every week or two once the title is available.
