FIFA 19: Bundesliga Team of the Season (TOTS) Prediction

We thought this was going to be the year where Bayern Munich's dominance ended, but credit to the German heavyweights, they have secured seventh-straight Bundesliga title, despite trailing Borussia Dortmund at Christmas. Dortmund can be proud of the fight they put up, but will be disappointed looking back, having gone the first 15 matches unbeaten of the campaign. 

Bayern, BVB and RB Leipzig secured Champions League football for next season, and on the final day of the campaign the fourth spot was claimed by Bayer Leverkusen. Die Werkelf had a brilliant back-end of the campaign, recovering from just three wins in their first 11 matches.

In a remarkable season, there have also been some remarkable individual performances, and the time has come to predict what the Bundesliga Team of the Season (TOTS) would look like on FIFA 19. A squad of 23 players will be released towards the end of the season, receiving emphatic boosts to their Ultimate Team cards. You can hunt for these items on the FUT store or buy and sell them on the transfer market.

Peter Gulacsi (OVR 79 – TOTS 90)

When RB Leipzig burst into the Bundesliga two years ago, and finished second in their first ever top-flight season, they were known for a devastating attack spearheaded by Timo Werner. Under new manager Ralf Rangnick they have become a solid defensive unit, with goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi keeping 16 clean sheets this season. The Hungarian has also made an impressive 88 saves, helping Leipzig into the Bundesliga top three.

A 79 overall rating for Gulacsi could improve to a Team of the Season rating of 90. His base card costs just 600 coins on PlayStation 4 and 700 on Xbox One in Ultimate Team.

Under threat from: Yann Sommer (OVR 84)

Joshua Kimmich (OVR 86 – TOTS 94)

Despite a wobble for Bayern Munich this season, Joshua Kimmich has remained consistent, with the German international regarded by many as the best right back in the world. The 24-year-old has contributed with 13 assists for the defending champions this season, doing his bit as Bayern secured a seventh title in a row. 

Kimmich’s 86 overall rating is likely to rise to 94 for the Team of the Season, with his base card worth 22,500 coins on PS4 and 24,000 on Xbox One. An 87 Champions League item will set you back 48,000 on PS4 and 50,000 on Xbox One, and an 87 in-form from TOTW 14 is priced at 127,000 on PS4 and 112,000 on Xbox One. 

Under threat from: Nico Elvedi (OVR 77)

Niklas Sule (OVR 84 – TOTS 91)

This has been the campaign that defensive giant Niklas Sule has become a regular for Bayern Munich, ousting Jerome Boateng from the starting lineup. The centre back is still just 23, and made 31 league appearances for Bayern this term, and has the joint-highest pass completion rate at 95%

Sule should see his 84 overall improve to a TOTS 91, and you can pick up his normal card for just 6,300 coins on PS4 and 6,800 on Xbox One. An 85 Champions League item will set you back 20,250 on PS4 and 20,750 on Xbox One. 

Under threat from: Manuel Akanji (OVR 78)

Philipp Max (OVR 78 – TOTS 90)

Over to Augsburg, with Philipp Max continuing to bomb down the left flank for the club. The attacking left back chipped in with four goals and four assists this season for a side that has flirted with the wrong end of the table. A move away this summer for the 25-year-old could on the cards after another promising campaign. 

A 78 overall rating for Max is likely to improve a Team of the Season score of 90, with his base card costing 1,300 coins on PS4 and 2,000 on Xbox One. An 82 left midfield in-form from TOTW 32 is worth 14,500 on PS4 and 14,750 on Xbox One. 

Under threat from: Achraf Hakimi (OVR 75)

Thorgan Hazard (OVR 83 – TOTS 91)

While attention has been on his brother in the Premier League, Thorgan Hazard has been having a fine season himself in the Bundesliga. The winger has scored 10 goals and 12 assists for Borussia Monchengladbach, helping them to fifth in the table and just two points off the Champions League spots.

Thorgan is likely to be boosted from an 83 overall to a 91 TOTS card, with his base rating costing 1,100 coins on PS4 and 1,300 on Xbox One. An 86 in-form from TOTW 8 costs 57,000 on PS4 and 68,000 on Xbox One. 

Under threat from: Serge Gnabry (OVR 82)

Andrej Kramaric (OVR 83 – TOTS 92)

Andrej Kramaric has showed his versatility for Hoffenheim this term, playing as a striker, second striker and left winger, but most of his appearances have in fact come as an attacking midfielder. The Croatian international has bagged an impressive 17 goals and added four assists, as his side stake a late claim for Champions League football.

Kramaric’s 83 overall should rise to a 92 TOTS card, with his position likely to move from striker to attacking midfield. His base card costs 1,100 coins on PS4 and 1,200 on Xbox One and an 84 Champions League card is worth 6,800 on PS4 and 6,200 on Xbox One. An 85 CF card is priced at 40,000 on PS4 and 64,000 on Xbox One. 

Under threat from: Kai Havertz (OVR 81)

Marco Reus (OVR 88 – TOTS 97)

The standout player from the Bundesliga this season, with Marco Reus flourishing in his new number 10 role. The German international has scored 17 goals and added 11 assists this term, firing Borussia Dortmund into the title race. Despite his great season, the captain will still see it as an opportunity lose to claim the Bundesliga for the first time in seven years. 

Reus has received plenty of Ultimate Team cards this season, so expect his 88 overall to jump up massively to a TOTS 97 rating. His base card costs 53,000 coins on PS4 and 50,500 on Xbox One, with an 89 Champions League item valued at 113,000 on PS4 and 110,000 on Xbox One. A 91 third in-form from TOTW 32 will set you back 395,000 on PS4 and 315,000 on Xbox One and a 92 Headliner card requires 575,000 on PS4 and 553,000 on Xbox One.

Jadon Sancho (OVR 78 – TOTS 93)

Jadon Sancho has taken the Bundesliga by storm this season, with the England international becoming the youngest man ever to score 12 goals in the German top-flight. The wide midfielder has also contributed with 17 assists to Borussia Dortmund’s title bid, less than two years on from his £8 million from Manchester City, he is now valued at over £110 million.

Sancho’s 78 overall rating should improve to 93 for the Team of the Season, with his base card valued at 850 coins on PS4 and 900 on Xbox One. An 82-rated second in-form from TOTW 24 is worth 22,500 on PS4 and 26,750 on Xbox One whilst a 90 Future Stars item will cost 608,000 on PS4 and 550,000 on Xbox One. 

Under threat from: Filip Kostic (OVR 77)

Luka Jovic (OVR 80 – TOTS 92)

Perhaps the finest loan move across Europe this season, Luka Jovic has netted 17 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt since joining from Benfica. The deal was made permanent in March, and with Eintracht reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League, you can see why Real Madrid want to sign the 21-year-old Serb.

Jovic’s 80 overall should improve to a Team of the Season 92, with his base card worth 700 coins on PS4 and 700 on Xbox One. An 86 second in-form from TOTW 24 costs 37,500 on PS4 and 39,000 on Xbox One, and an 88 Future Stars rating is valued at 170,000 on PS4 and 149,000 on Xbox One. 

Under threat from: Max Kruse (OVR 82)

Robert Lewandowski (OVR 90 – TOTS 96)

Bayern are on course for the title, and with Robert Lewandowski’s finishing, they were never out of the race. The Pole is the top scorer in the division with 22, as he searches for Bundesliga title number six. At the age of 30, could this be last barnstorming campaign we see from the number 9? 

A 90 rating for Lewandowski should rise to a 96 TOTS, with his base card worth 70,000 on PS4 and 63,000 on Xbox One. A 92 Champions League Team of the Group Stage item will set you back 177,000 on PS4 and 185,000 on Xbox One, with a 94 in-form from TOTW 30 costing 700,000 on PS4 and 799,000 on Xbox One.

Under threat from: Sebastian Haller (OVR 81)

Paco Alcacer (OVR 79 – TOTS 92)

Paco Alcacer hit the ground running so hard at Borussia Dortmund that his loan move from Barcelona was made permanent by November. The Spaniard has hit 18 goals in just 26 matches for BVB this season, and if it hadn’t been for four separate injuries this season, he may have challenged Lewandowski for the top scorer prize. 

Alcacer should see his 79 overall rise to 92 for the TOTS, with his base card priced at 850 coins on PS4 and 1,000 on Xbox One. An 80-rated Champions League item costs 1,800 on PS4 and 2,400 on Xbox One, with an 82 in-form from TOTW 4 worth 32,500 on PS4 and 38,250 on Xbox One.
