Sony has announced a new deal to acquire Bungie, the massive video game studio behind hit series like Halo and Destiny, in a massive $3.6 billion purchase.

Sony to Acquire Bungie for $3.6 Billion
The news that Sony will acquire Bungie was first revealed on Monday, January 31st, and matches the massive news just weeks ago that rival Microsoft is set to acquire Activision-Blizzard for $68.7 billion.
According to reports so far, Bungie plans to remain an independent operation under the support of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).
Thus far Bungie is set to expand Destiny 2 heading toward new expansions while prepping new IP to take the gaming world by storm. Under Sony, both of these efforts may be strengthened by better resources, and things could go much further including options of exclusivity should Sony choose that route.
This brings about many questions from gamers - including the most pressing, will Destiny be a PlayStation and Sony exclusive?
Sony has not revealed any plans to go exclusive with Bungie games, and after Microsoft revealed intentions to keep doors open to Activision-Blizzard properties on Sony platforms, it's like to be reciprocated with Destiny 2 and beyond.
