God of War Ragnarok is one of those games that's going to blow a lot of people away when it comes out - God of War 2018 was easily one of the best PS4 games we've ever played and it feels impossible to imagine the sequel from Santa Monica Studio to be anything but incredible. Annoyingly, though, we don't really know too much about this game and when it's due to come out.
There is one date, though, that has recently surfaced... It's not as far away as we thought, either. The only question we have to ask about it all, though, is the following: Is this new God of War Ragnarok release date legitimate?
Leaked date rumoured to be a place-holder
At the moment, all we know is that the PlayStation Database has listed God of War Ragnarok for September 30th, 2022. This is in the second half of the year, but a lot earlier than initially expected. You can see the leak yourself below:
September 30th is a Friday - a lot of games are traditionally released on a Thursday or a Friday, so this checks out. However, it's hard to confirm that this date is legitimate purely on that.
Santa Monica Studio has been notably silent regarding the development of Ragnarok - a release date feels far from confirmation and you'd like to think the studio will announce a date with ample breathing room. A new State of Play from PlayStation is due at some point within the first few months of 2022 - so this could be the perfect time to confirm the release date suggested above.
It's important to note that we're not out of the woods just yet - when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic - and there could easily be another wave of delays from the industry if things get too bad. This could be a reason why no official announcement has been made yet. For now, we have this trailer...
