DROPPED DOWN - Ronaldo may not be seen above the rest in FIFA 22

Yes, we're calling it now - CR7 will fall into the rest of the pack on FIFA 22.

In FIFA 21, he had a 92 rating - bridging the gap between the 93-rated Lionel Messi and the rest - with Neymar, Kevin De Bruyne and Robert Lewandowski all rated 91.

The thing is now - is Cristiano now actually a better player than those three?

The biggest drop we've given the Portuguese is his pace - with the 36-year-old not worthy of anything more than 85 pace, falling from 89 pace on FIFA 21.

We are giving the former Real and Untied star a boost to his physical stats (from as he develops more into a number 9 with every passing season.

This in-form is the third of CR7's TOTW items - which is still fetching for over 3 million coins in Ultimate Team.

NEVER IN DOUBT - With 29 goals in Serie A last season, CR7 was always going to claim another TOTS item

Last but by no means least, Ronaldo also claims a 98 rating for his Team of the Season card - which is very similar to his TOTY item.

The pace may not be as high at 95, but with 99 shooting, 95 dribbling, 90 passing and 90 physicality - this is among the most deadly cards in FIFA 21.

Chemistry Styles

There is one chemistry style that stands out above all others for Ronaldo...

Engine - this will be the number one choice for most players, offering +5 pace, +5 passing and +7 dribbling.

Hunter - if you want CR7 to be clinical in front of goal, this chem style brings in +10 pace and +6 shooting - meaning he will have 99 pace and 99 shooting, what more do you need?

Hawk - a more rounded option, the Hawk offers +5 pace, +6 shooting and +5 physicality, meaning that you can take on defenders of all sizes.

Shadow - Some people like to play Ronaldo in midfield, allowing him to attack from deep - but that does leave him short defensive. The Shadow will increase pace +12 and defending +8.

Similar Players

Ronaldo is really in a world of his own, especially when it comes to players from Serie A or his native Portugal - but if you can't quite afford him, here's who you should look at.

Romelu Lukaku (OVR 85)

LIKE FOR LIKE - In Serie A, Lukaku is the closest option

We star with Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukau, who is effectively a reduced version of CR7.

He may not be the quickest with 81 pace, but his sprint speed is in fact 84 - so with a Hunter chemistry style he can be almost as devastating as Ronaldo.

The Belgian is an absolute bargain at 13,000 coins on PS4 and 16,000 on Xbox One - with his other cards rated as high as 96.

Erling Haaland (OVR 84)

Erling Haaland does resemble CR7 in real life with his pace, clinical finishing and strength.

Yes he may be in a different league, but with 84 pace, 87 shooting and 85 physicality available for under 10,000 coins - you could bring him into your squad just as a super sub.

On FIFA 21, the Norweigan picked up just the 11 FUT cards - rated as high as 95.

Kylian Mbappe (OVR 90)

GOAT LEVELS - Mbappe is the closest in world football to the GOATs of Ronaldo and Messi

Yes, Mbappe is even more expensive than Ronaldo - but if you want the best, you may as well go for the Frenchman.

Mbappe, with his 96 pace, 91 dribbling and 86 shooting sets you back 177,000 coins on PS4 and 131,000 on Xbox One - with his cards going all the way up to 97.

Cristiano Ronaldo in Career Mode

On FIFA 21, picking up CR7 is no mistake, but it's whether you are prepared to pay top dollar for an ageing pro.

His 92 overall will drop rapidly, and you will likely need to spend £70 million to get hold of him.

That said, that price should drop dramatically after the first season - with his contract due to expire in 2022.

Therefore on FIFA 22, he may cost £40 million or less, or could even be snapped up on a contract expiry signing - making his signature a no brainer.
