Six players were nominated for August’s Premier League Player of the Month award, but Michail Antonio has beaten his rivals to pick up the first award of the season.
However, will the winner feature in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team?
The release of FIFA 22 is due on Friday, 1 October, so it may have come too early for an SBC!
Release Date
With the release of FIFA 22 not until the end of the month, the first Player of the Month award may arrive too soon to be released in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team.
However, according to FIFAUTeam it could be the first SBC of the new game, and what an SBC it could be!
An early Antonio SBC could prove very handy indeed with his combination of pace, power, dribbling, and finishing.
Michail Antonio
Four goals and three assists in August has earned Michail Antonio the first Premier League Player of the Month of the season.
The West Ham forward has become the club's record goalscorer in the Premier League and has celebrated with his first international call-up with Jamaica, hence the switch in nationality.
Best of the rest
Take a look at the five players who missed out on the award.
Marcos Alonso
Spanish wing-back Marcos Alonso is back in favour under Thomas Tuchel, and he has repaid his manager's faith so far this season.
Alonso scored in Chelsea' opening fixture against Crystal Palace and helped the Blues keep two clean sheets from their three matches last month.
Eric Dier
Three clean sheets from games against Man City, Wolves, and Watford represent a fantastic start for Nuno Espirito Santo and Spurs.
Eric Dier has been a crucial figure at the back for Spurs as they find themselves top of the table after the first month.
Mason Greenwood
It has been a terrific start to the season for Mason Greenwood as the Man Utd youngster has bagged three goals in the opening three matches.
The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and the return to fitness of Edinson Cavani could see Greenwood shifted out to the right, but his form will give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer food for thought.
Said Benrahma
Without Jesse Lingard, Said Benrahma has been given the free role behind Michail Antonio at West Ham and he has flourished early on this season.
Two goals and two assists are a great start for Benrahma, who showed signs of his talent last season and will hope he can keep delivering for David Moyes' men.
Demarai Gray
Not much fuss was made over the signing of Demarai Gray at Everton, but for less than £2 million Rafael Benitez may have picked up the bargain of the season.
With two goals in three games, Gray looks to be in the form of his life and has looked lively in each of the Toffees' opening fixtures.
