FIFA 20 Ligue 1 POTM January: Three-man shortlist CONFIRMED

We are well into February, but the POTM for the opening month of the year is still to be decided.

There may still be a fair portion of the season left to come, but PSG are set to canter to yet another top-flight title, currently sitting 12 points ahead of their nearest challenger.

Toulouse are in real trouble, 12 points adrift of safety - whilst Amiens and Nimes are the two other sides in the relegation zone at this stage of the season.

On Monday night, EA Sports confirmed the three-man shortlist for the Ligue 1 Player of the Month award and it is as follows.

Neymar

There are few players who split opinion and frustrate fans as much as the Brazilian forward. On his day he is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world, but his attitude remains a big problem.

Not in January though, as the PSG man hammered home five goals in three games and played a key role, as they picked up seven points from a possible nine.

Moussa Dembele

A name that fans of British football will be familiar with, as former Celtic forward Moussa Dembele, now of Lyon, makes the three-man shortlist for January's best player.

Domestic cup commitments meant that Les Gones only played two league matches in January, however they won both and Dembele grabbed a goal in each as Lyon went two from two.

Yunis Abdelhamid

The final name in the three-man shortlist is Stade Reims Morrocan centre-half Yunis Abdelhamid. Considering he's up against Dembele and Neymar, it would be surprising to see the 32-year-old pick up the award.

However, it's worth remembering that the African football fanbase is one of the most passionate around, so if they get behind their man, who knows what might happen.
