FIFA 19: Best La Liga players in Ultimate Team

Looking to build a Spanish side in FIFA Ultimate Team? Here are the best players and the best possible line up you can have from La Liga.

When building your Ultimate Team, you can’t go wrong by looking at players from La Liga. Real Madrid have won the Champions League three times in a row, Barcelona have been a force for a decade, and Atletico Madrid are the reigning Europa League champions, showing how much pedigree the Spanish top flight has.

RealSport looks at the best players from La Liga on FIFA 19 Ultimate Team (FUT), and what the best possible line up from the division looks like.

Lionel Messi (OVR 94)

Age: 31

Position: CF

Club: Barcelona

Country: Argentina

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 97 dribbling, 96 ball control, 95 finishing

FUT cost: 870,000 PS4 / 880,000 Xbox One

With Cristiano Ronaldo gone, Lionel Messi is the undisputed king of La Liga, having scored 563 goals and notched 240 assists in close to 650 games in the league. During that time the little magician has won the division nine times, the Champions League four times and is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Messi’s stats of 97 dribbling, 96 ball control and 95 finishing take him to a Ronaldo-matching 94 overall on Ultimate Team. To sign the centre forward you will need 870,000 coins on PS4 and 880,000 on Xbox One.

Luka Modric (OVR 91)

Age: 33

Position: CM

Club: Real Madrid

Country: Croatia

Work rate: High/High

Best stats: 94 balance, 93 short passing, 93 ball control

FUT cost: 138,000 PS4 / 126,000 Xbox One

Could Luka Modric break the 10 years of dominance of Ronaldo and Messi by winning the Ballon d’Or this year? The Croatian helped Real Madrid win their third Champions League on the spin and won the Golden Ball at the World Cup for dragging the minnows of Croatia to the final. He won FIFA’s Best Player award, but a Ballon d’Or would be something else.

Modric has a 91 overall rating on the game, made up by 94 balance, 93 short passing and 93 ball control. 138,000 coins on PS4 and 126,000 on Xbox One will get you the central midfielder.

Luis Suarez (OVR 91)

Age: 31

Position: ST

Club: Barcelona

Country: Uruguay

Work rate: High/Medium

Best stats: 94 finishing, 93 reactions, 92 positioning

FUT cost: 360,000 PS4 / 328,000 Xbox One

Back to Barcelona, with Luis Suarez linking up with Messi at the Camp Nou. The Uruguayan has scored 155 goals with 86 assists in 209 games for the Catalans, winning three league titles and a Champions League. The striker also did the business in Holland and England, scoring 111 goals for Ajax and 82 from Liverpool.

Country: Spain

Work rate: Medium/High

Best stats: 93 jumping, 92 standing tackle, 91 heading accuracy

FUT cost: 290,000 PS4 / 270,000 Xbox One

Real Madrid man Sergio Ramos polarises opinion, but you cannot deny the centre back’s quality and his record speaks for itself. The 32-year-old has won four La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues since moving to Real Madrid from Sevilla, and on the international scene has two European Championships and a World Cup to his name with Spain.

Ramos offers 93 jumping, 92 standing tackle and 91 heading accuracy on FIFA 19 Ultimate Team, which take him to a 91 overall. Look to sign the Real and Spain captain for 290,000 coins on PS4 and 270,000 on Xbox One.

Thibaut Courtois (OVR 90)

Age: 26

Position: GK

Club: Real Madrid

Country: Belgium

Best stats: 91 GK handling, 88 GK reflexes, 87 GK Diving

FUT cost: 110,000 PS4 / 159,000 Xbox One

A new recruit to La Liga, Thibaut Courtois has returned to Spain, and Madrid in fact, after leaving Chelsea in the summer to sign for Real Madrid. Whilst on loan at Atletico from the Blues, the Belgian helped Los Colchoneros lift a famous La Liga title as well as the Europa League before claiming two Premier Leagues and an FA Cup in England.

The goalkeeper is just 26 years’ old, and with a 90 overall he has a bright future ahead of him. Abilities of 91 GK handling, 88 GK reflexes and 87 GK diving cost 110,000 coins on PS4 and 159,000 on Xbox One.

Jan Oblak (OVR 90)

Age: 25

Position: GK

Club: Atletico Madrid

Country: Slovenia

Best stats: 92 GK handling, 89 GK reflexes, 88 GK positioning

FUT cost: 68,000 PS4 / 63,500 Xbox One

Jan Oblak replaced Courtois after he left Atletico Madrid, with the Slovenian filling the void and then some. The 25-year-old has won the La Liga goalkeeping trophy for the past three seasons and has kept a fantastic 98 clean sheets in just 173 games for the Spaniards.

Oblak’s 90 overall rating is aided by 92 GK handling, 89 GK reflexes and 88 GK positioning on Ultimate Team. You can sign him for a decent price of 68,000 coins on PS4 and 63,500 on Xbox One.

Toni Kroos (OVR 90)

Age: 28

Position: CM

Club: Real Madrid

Country: Germany

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Only 28, the central midfielder has four Champions Leagues, a World Cup, three Bundesligas and a La Liga to his name. With plenty of time still remaining in his career, Kroos could go down as one of the most decorated players in history.

A 90 overall rating for Kroos consists of 92 short passing, 92 long shots and 90 ball control. 70,000 coins on PS4 and 65,500 on Xbox One will get you the German and his superb technical ability.

Club: Atletico Madrid

Country: Uruguay

Work rate: Medium/High

Best stats: 91 jumping, 90 marking, 90 strength

FUT cost: 70,000 PS4 / 65,500 Xbox One

Few defenders are a solid as Diego Godin, and you wonder if he had left Atletico Madrid and pursued more silverware, would he be considered in the top bracket of footballers? His La Liga achieved with Atletico in 2014 was a remarkable achievement, and the centre back has also managed to add two Europa Leagues and a Copa America with Uruguay to his mantlepiece.

91 jumping, 90 marking and 90 strength take Godin to a 90 overall on Ultimate Team. 70,000 coins on PS4 and 65,500 on Xbox One is what you’ll need to sign him.

FUT cost: 73,000 PS4 / 62,000 Xbox One

Isco possess crazy control of the ball, and it is a shame to see him cast so often out to the wing for club and country rather than in his desired number 10 position. The Real Madrid man was Spain’s best player at the World Cup in the summer, and although his country didn’t go deep into the tournament, it capped a fantastic season in which he won his fourth Champions League title with Los Blancos.

Isco has an 89 overall rating on FIFA 19, which contains abilities of 95 ball control, 94 dribbling and 90 vision. 73,000 coins on PS4 and 62,000 on Xbox One can get you the attacking midfielder.

FUT cost: 59,500 PS4 / 52,500 Xbox One

We finish off with a third goalkeeper, and after a fantastic season for Barcelona last year, Marc-Andre ter Stegen must have been disappointed to not to get the number one spot for Germany during the World Cup. That went to captain Manuel Neuer (OVR 90) who had missed almost the entire domestic campaign with injury, whilst ter Stegen kept 19 clean sheets in La Liga.

The 26-year-old ter Stegen has 90 GK reflexes, 88 GK kicking and 87 GK diving on Ultimate Team, helping him to an 89 overall. You can sign the German for 59,500 coins on PS4 and 52,500 on Xbox One.
