We'll get our first taste of official info on the next World of Warcraft expansion on April 19th, but as always, data miners and leakers are hard at work to find out new info. The latest round of WoW 10.0 leaks point to the next expansion being called Dragonflight.
Here's what we know about WoW Dragonflight and when we'll learn whether the leaks were right about the series' next new expansion.
LATEST: New WoW Expansion Reveal Stream Coming SOON!
Blizzard will finally end the conjecture on Tuesday, April 19th, with a reveal stream for the next new WoW expansion.
Based on the many leaks we explore below and beyond, we expect that WoW Dragonflight will finally be revealed as the next expansion and kick off the series' next steps as WoW 10.0.
WoW Dragonflight Expansion Leaks
Somewhat confirming previous rumors and leaks about the next World of Warcraft expansion boasting a dragon theme, numerous mentions of "Dragonflight" in the public source code of the official World of Warcraft website have surfaced according to Wowhead.
Additionally, thanks to a commentor in the Wowhead forums, new "Dragonflight" web certifications were registered last week, leading to a URL that players can't access yet, aptly named "dragonflight.blizzard.com."
This is all on top of what Wowhead already had datamined in the past, which were possible Deluxe versions of the Expansion rewards that included a mount, a pet, and some additional items with spell effects related to dragons such as a possible Emerald Dragon mount.
Evidence for a Dragon-Themed expansion continues to mount
With this new leak, evidence for a dragon-themed expansion for World of Warcraft continues to mount.
Previously, multiple WoW 10.0 rumors pointed towards The Dragon Isles finally becoming available in World of Warcraft. The Dragon Isles were originally a group of islands that were intended to be a level 65 - 70 raid in World of Warcraft located north of Lordaeron and west of Quel'Thalas, before being cut from the game. They were planned to host temples to the Old Gods, as well as be the home of the red dragon Alexstrasza - think of it as Azeroth's version of the Galapagos islands.
To finally get confirmed answers, the World of Warcraft community will have to wait for April 19th when Blizzard announces what's next for the game.
