The Overwatch World Cup is finally back. For the first time in three years—due to the tournament going on hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic—pro-players all across the world will be able to represent their home country with pride as they duke it out against on another in order to crown which nation is the top dog.
A total of 36 teams will be vying to take home the trophy of one of Overwatch's most prestigious tournaments, a competition where some of the world's brightest Overwatch stars first made their name.

When is the 2023 Overwatch World Cup?
In order for players to participate in the Overwatch World Cup and, ultimately, play in matches, there will be a lengthy process, one that at the end of it, will have 36 of the best teams competing.
During the months of January and February, teams began to set up, Blizzard announced which 36 countries would compete, and the World Cup Trials occurred. Teams for the World Cup will then be announced in March, where they will begin their preparations for the 36-team regional qualifiers in June.
From those regional qualifiers, the top 16 teams will then advance to the World Cup round-robin group stage. After that, the top eight Country and Regional teams will compete in a single elimination bracket to determine the Overwatch World Cup Medalists and World Champion sometime in the Fall of 2023.
Apart from the Fall 2023 expectation, it's uncertain when the Group Stage and Finals of the Overwatch World Cup will take place. Additionally, there's no confirmation of where the tournament will be held. In the past, the international tournament was held during Blizzard's Blizzcon event, 2023's possible Blizzcon might follow suit.
