Final Fantasy 14 is a rather incredible game. Over the last few years, it has managed to pull back from its disastrous launch to become one of the most beloved MMORPGs there is. This success has hit the team hard and sales for the game were suspended a while ago. Here's when FF14 will go back on sale.
Why Did Final Fantasy 14 get taken off stores?
Recently, a huge new DLC was launched for Final Fantasy 14 called Endwalker. This resulted in masses of players filing into the servers once more. In response, queue times for servers were huge, having players wait hours just to give it a go.
In response to all this stress on the servers, Square Enix took the game down, to allow them to work through congested Worlds. They stopped any new players from starting the game, to allow them to get to grips with one of the largest days in the game's history. This was a monumental day for the series.
When Does Final Fantasy 14 go back on sale?
The producer and director of Final Fantasy 14, Naoki Yoshida, recently gave an announcement in regards to the future of the game. In it, he revealed that they "will be resuming digital sales of FFXIV starting on January 25, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. (JST)"
After a long wait, Final Fantasy 14 is finally coming back. Unfortunately, it seems likely that they will go down again if demand is too high. In that statement, they said:
However, in the event servers continue to experience extreme levels of congestion, we may consider suspending digital sales again. We are aware that certain Worlds are experiencing high server traffic at peak times, and while some may consider this decision to resume sales to be premature, we ask for your understanding in this matter.
