Tottenham 2-0 Watford: 5 things we learned

By the end, it was comfortable. A 2-0 victory, professional and unspectacular, thanks to goals from the reliable Dele Alli and Harry Kane.

Watford, though, were more stubborn opposition than many had expected them to be. The goals they conceded were feebly defended but the visitors, for the most part, did not perform badly.

Javi Gracia's side had a number of chances in the first half and posed a considerable threat given they had not scored a goal away from home in 638 minutes of football.

Their profligacy, though, was part of the problem. Tottenham had enough to swat aside Watford, and there was a feeling that they had plenty left in the tank.
