Total War: Warhammer 3, the triumphant conclusion of Creative Assembly and Games Workshop's glorious collaboration, is one of the most eagerly anticipated strategy titles of 2021.

The union is a match made in strategy heaven combining the grimdark world of Warhammer and the mix of turn-based grand strategy and real-time battles of the Total War franchise.

As we get closer to its launch, we will compile all of the latest Total War: Warhammer 3 news, as and when it becomes available.

THE EXILED ONE - Skarbrand, Greater Daemon of Khorne

As nothing official has been announced by Creative Assembly, this rumour should be treated as such. Still, as information regarding the upcoming grand strategy title is still rather scarce, it is a tantalising one.

Trial by Fire Trailer

Below, you can check out the latest trailer for the game, which goes over some cool new features.

World of Kislev Trailer

A new faction being introduced to Total War: Warhammer 3 is Kislev, the bear-worshipping sentinels of the northern borders of the Old World.

Bearing more than a passing resemblance to real-world Russia of centuries past, Kislev is a land of rugged, hard-drinking, stony-faced outdoorsmen.

They harness the power of ice magic in defence of their homeland and use the fearsome Great Bears of Kislev as both mounts and monstrous shock troops.

You can get a taste of the way Kislev performs on the battlefield in the trailer below:

Release Date

While Creative Assembly has not announced an official release date, Warhammer 3 is slated to launch in late 2021, according to the relevant listings on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

There are rumours of a September release date (from a reputable source within the Total War community), although as always, they should be taken with a grain of salt.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD - Skulls for the skull throne...

The biggest new features in Total War: Warhammer 3 are the inclusion of six new factions and a new campaign map.

Chief amongst them are Kislev and Grand Cathay, and then there are the four demonic factions representing each of the Chaos gods: Khorne, Tzeentch, Slaanesh and Nurgle.

The game will take place on an entirely new campaign map that will represent an area north and east of The Old World, and is reported to be twice the size of the Eye of the Vortex campaign map of Warhammer 2.

Players who own all three games in the trilogy will be able to play on a combined super-map, in a mode called Mortal Empires, comprising the campaign maps of all three games (although this feature will not be available at launch).

FOR KISLEV - The beleagured nation is all that stands between the demonic apocalypse and the fracturous states ofThe Old World

Narrative has been an important element to the Total War: Warhammer trilogy, something that is somewhat unique in the grand strategy genre.

Each faction has had its own goals, and each game has focused on different factions. Throughout the course of a campaign, you can engage with your faction's set of scripted quests, or ignore them entirely and chart your own path

Warhammer 3 is the titanic end to the series, in which the demonic apocalypse is set to engulf both the Old and New Worlds. The Warhammer 3 Steam page sets the scene thusly:

"Far beyond the world and its petty wars there exists a dimension of pure, malevolent magic: The Realm of Chaos. It is a terrible place, incomprehensible to the mortal mind. It whispers promises of power, but to behold it is to be seduced by it. To relinquish your soul to it. To become it.

The four Ruinous Powers rule over this place, ever seeking to slip their bonds and engulf the world in a tide of daemonic corruption. Nurgle, the plague god; Slaanesh, the lord of excess; Tzeentch, the changer of ways; and Khorne, the god of blood and slaughter.

On the border between the worlds, two mighty kingdoms stand sentinel: the stern warriors of Kislev and the vast empire of Grand Cathay. But each is beset by its own trials, and now both have cause to cross the threshold and send their armies into the Realm of Chaos.

The world stands on a precipice. A single push will plunge it into cataclysm.

And there is one who schemes to achieve just that, an ancient figure who desires nothing less than to wield supreme power. But to succeed, he will need a champion…

The coming conflict will engulf all. Will you conquer your daemons? Or command them?"
