The major developer has revealed that nine of its games will not be backwards compatible with the latest console.
Update: It’s currently unclear whether the Ubisoft games listed above run on PS5 with sub-par performance or are not playable on the console, we are waiting for Ubisoft to clarify.
With a number of top games also on the list, let’s jump into them now.
Some Assassin’s Creed titles are not coming to PS5
Unfortunately, a number of Assassin’s Creed games sit on this list.
Games that you won’t be able to play on the PS5 include Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy Pack.
Given that the Chronicles Trilogy Pack is unplayable, so is Chronicles India, Russia and China.
Other titles
A number of other titles round out the nine games.
Risk, Star Trek Bridge Crew, Werewolves Within and Space Junkies are all also games that won’t be backwards compatible on the PS5.
These titles, whilst not everybody’s cup of tea, all have a number of downloads, and many will be sad to see them unplyabale.
Sony’s non-PS5 games list
Interestingly, none of these games feature on Sony’s official list of games we can’t play through backwards compatibility.
As such, it is likely that there will instead be elements of the game that don’t work to their full extent.
If this isn’t the case, then it there is also the possibility that the games simply won’t be receiving increased performance to take advantage of the PS5’s advanced hardware!
Sony's DualSense controller in action
With just weeks to go until the global release of the PS5, we are finally getting a look at some of the hardware in action.
The most recent part of that was a demo of what the new DualSense controller can do.
One of the major additions is adaptive triggers, or the ability for the weight of the trigger to change depending on what is happening in the game.
Sony used the tension of drawing a bow to explain it, but seeing it in action is something else.
Erik Fossum displayed the new triggers on his twitter page.
