Terraria Dev Cancels Stadia Port Following YouTube Ban

It looks like the Terraria port for Google Stadia is officially off after a spectacular fall out between the game co-creator and Google.

Andrew Spinks - also known as @Demilogic on Twitter - is the games co-creator and he announced this morning that the upcoming Google Stadia version of the game was no more after his Google accounts were locked.

Writing very publically on Twitter, the developer explained in great detail at how he had lost access to his Google accounts, including Google Play, Google Drive, YouTube and Gmail.

Spinks went on to suggest he has been "given the runaround" by Google and as such considered bridges had been 'burned'.

"@Google my account has now been disabled for over 3 weeks. I still have no idea why, and after using every resource I have to get this resolved you have done nothing but given me the runaround."

"My phone has lost access to thousands of dollars of apps on @GooglePlay. I had just bought LOTR 4K and can't finish it. My @googledrive data is completely gone. I can't access my @YouTube channel. The worst of all is losing access to my @gmail address of over 15 years.

"absolutely have not done anything to violate your terms of service, so I can take this no other way than you deciding to burn this bridge. Consider it burned. #Terraria for @GoogleStadia is canceled. My company will no longer support any of your platforms moving forward."

The problems appear to have started back in early January when Terraria's official YouTube account was disabled, although no one seems to know why - least of all the developer who's been attempting to resolve the issue, to no avail.

As of March 2020, Terraria had sold 30 million copies on PC, consoles and mobile.

More recently Google confirmed that was closing it's internal Google Stadia game development teams. Instead, the platform holder intends to focus on partnering with third-party game companies.

But apparently not Terraria.
