Here's a game series you probably haven't thought about in a number of years, the fast-paced destructive racer, Burnout could be making a return to PlayStation.
Sony recently sent a survey out to some users asking for their opinions of certain games, such as had the player heard of Miles Morales or Godfall.
But, one of the questions asked about Burnout.
A Reddit user spotted this and said,
"Received an email from Sony with link to a survey. First question was asking if I'd heard of games like Miles Morales, Godfall etc...and then Burnout?!"
"Again, Burnout randomly mentioned in another question which mainly featured more modern games. Are Sony looking at doing something with the Burnout IP?"
It does seem odd for Sony to mention the series, especially considering the last game to be released was Burnout Paradise, which launched on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Burnout Paradise released back in 2008 and was the last new main entry in the series, with a spin-off mobile style game, Burnout Crash, releasing on iOS, PS Network and Xbox Live Arcade in 2011.
Overall, Burnout Paradise performed very well with critics, with the highest Metacritic score for the title being 88/100
The game was later remastered and released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2018, before being released on the Nintendo Switch in 2020.
It is also possible that the remastered version was released to gauge players reaction and whether there is still a place for the Burnout series in modern gaming.
Of course, there was no mention of the Xbox or Nintendo Switch, other platforms that Burnout has been released on, so it is hard to tell whether this could mean a PlayStation exclusive.
Only time will tell what this means, it is possible that EA is looking to bring the series back, or Sony could be looking to develop their own game in a similar style
