Official images of the new Social Status x Nike Air Max 1 Penny colourways have been revealed.
Their upcoming arrival means 2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for sneaker collaborations as New York-based streetwear giants Supreme have already teamed up with Nike to release three new Zoom Flight 95 colourways as well.
While there are plenty of sneakers to get excited about over the coming months, we're focusing solely on the Social Status Air Max 1's in this article. So, without further delay, let's dive in...
When Is The Social Status x Nike Air Max 1 Penny Release Date?
After originally kept under wraps, Social Status confirmed the sneaker's arrival on 22 July. Further confirmation came from Nike's official listing on its SNKRS launch page.
That means the shoes are out now. We'd recommend acting fast to secure your pair before they sell out though as stock might be limited.
Social Status x Nike Air Max 1 Penny Design
As mentioned, there are two Social Status x Nike Air Max 1 Penny colourways due to be released, the first of which being this predominately bone-coloured pair.
What separates these Social Status sneakers from other Air Max 1 Penny's is the various velcro Swooshes that come packaged with the shoes, all of which are symbolic of a certain sport such as baseball, basketball, tennis, and golf.
Furthermore, you'll find cursive text printed on the insoles that reads 'the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog'. This is actually a sentence used to practice handwriting as it integrates all of the letters in the alphabet.
The second colourway is almost a complete contrast of the first, with black dressing most of the uppers, while underfoot you'll find blue outsoles rather than the white rubber featured on the Sail pair.
The same velcro Swooshes apply to this colourway along with the handwritten print on the insoles, although it's unclear at this stage what the meaning behind this is.
To round off the design, you get the Nike logo stacked on top of the Social Status emblem on both heels to signify the brand's collaboration.
Social Status x Nike Air Max 1 Penny Price
Nike SNKRS has confirmed that both colourways cost $190 in adult sizing, which is actually slightly more than the typical Air Max 1 Penny price.
