Respawn Entertainment are well known for Titanfall 2, Apex Legends, and, most importantly, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Their recent success has spurred EA to make some pretty big announcements. Here's what we know about the new Star Wars first-person shooter.
New Star Wars FPS Title
The news was spotted on the official EA blog, where they confirmed a handful of new Star Wars games. In it, they said:
"Upcoming Titles Include the Next Game in the Star Wars Jedi Franchise, a new Star Wars FPS from Peter Hirschmann and a Strategy Game via a Publishing Collaboration Between Respawn and Bit Reactor."
Little has been revealed about the first-person shooter, with both it and the RTS game from the ex-XCOM devs being years away, according to Jason Schreier, but Jedi Fallen Order 2 should be out this year or next.
The statement revealing the game reads: “Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell,” said Peter Hirschmann, game director at Respawn. Peter previously worked as VP of development at LucasArts, and was executive producer on the original Star Wars Battlefront games. Hirschmann and the team at Respawn have just begun work on the title."
Jedi Fallen Order 2 & New RTS Title
While we already knew that a sequel to Jedi Fallen Order was in the works, this is the first time we've had official confirmation.
The third and final new game is an RTS title which is being "developed through a production collaboration with the newly formed studio Bit Reactor, helmed by games industry veteran Greg Foerstch. Respawn will produce the new Star Wars strategy game while Bit Reactor leads on the development of the title."
As soon as we hear more about these games, we'll let you know. We'd expect to get news at the EA Play Live that's expected to take place this summer.
