For those of you like me who pay for their PS Plus subscription annually, it always leaves a bit of a sting when you see that £49.99 / $59.99 come out of your bank account.
After all, we've already bought the console AND the game, why should we pay for the privilege to play online? However, PS Plus offers much more than just access to online gameplay, with the most notable perk coming in the form of monthly free games.
Well, the guys over at GameRant.com have done a little digging and discovered that in terms of value for money, your PS Plus membership is an absolute bargain!
Free Games 2020 Value
Game Rant has compiled a list of every free game that was made available for download to PS Plus members in 2020 and look at the accumulative cost of all these games were you to go out and buy them individually.
All the prices below were taken from the PlayStation Store (excluding any current deals). The only exception was Call of Duty WWII's value as the standard edition wasn't available on the PS Store. Instead, the price for that game is taken from a new listing at GameStop.

Total Value
The total value for all the games above comes to a whopping $749.42! For those of us in the UK, that's roughly £560.
When you consider that a PS Plus membership costs either $9.99/£6.99 a month or $59.99/£49.99 for the year, you're obviously getting way more bang for your buck! In fact, the most you can pay for a year's worth of PS Plus is $119.88/£83.88.
For that price, you're receiving access to online gameplay and free video games worth $750/£560!
More to come in 2021?
Having digested all that information, it seems hard to see how 2021 can top 2020 in terms of value for money.
Nevertheless, PS Plus looks set to take things to the next level in the new year.
The subscription service has already given away its first PS5 game in the form of Bugsnax, and Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan has hinted that there's more to come in an interview with Russian news outlet TASS.
When explicitly asked if PlayStation will have a response to Microsoft's Game Pass, Ryan stated:
"There is actually news to come, but just not today. We have PlayStation Now which is our subscription service, and that is available in a number of markets."
Whether this new announcement will be tied into PS Plus is yet to be revealed, but either way you look at it, the future looks bright for PlayStation gamers!
