PGA Tour 2K21 well and truly brought golf games back.
Building on the success of HB Studios' The Golf Club, this time they teamed up with Take-Two Interactive Software's 2K Sports to bring us PGA Tour 2K21.
And it looks like it's not the last we'll see of the franchise either.
"Surprising" Success
During Take-Two Interactive Software's quarterly financial conference call, it was revealed PGA Tour 2K21 shipped around 2 million units.
President Karl Slatoff said: "“We are incredibly excited about the performance of that title and I’d like to say that we’re not surprised, but I’m personally surprised."
The title came with brilliant PGA Tour rights, featuring some of the finest courses across the US - including TPC Sawgrass, TPC Scottsdale and TPC Deere Run.
Driving forward
Not only that, but Slatoff also revealed some first details about the future of the series: "We do think that there’s a future in this franchise for us.
"We haven’t really announced much what specifically that means, but without a doubt, this is something that we feel merits investment from our side and is something that we can really turn into a profitable and exciting franchise for us going forward for many years.”
PGA Tour 2K21 featured many stars from the world of golf, including cover star Justin Thomas, Ian Poulter and Bryson DeChambeau.
Unfortunately, you weren't able to play as any of these pros, only play against them with your created character - we really hope this feature changes in 2K22 or any future title.
Will we see PGA Tour 2K22?
The golden question!
It's really hard to say if we will see PGA Tour 2K22 later this year, but you would imagine 2K23 is a more realistic release in 2022.
This is due to 2K and Take-Two's other commitments, with an NFL title in the works as well as its annual NBA 2K releases.
A golf title where roster updates are less important doesn't really need an annual release, especially with complications that come with the current Coronavirus pandemic.
PGA Tour 2K21 is available to buy now on PS4, Xbox One, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch and Stadia.
