Nintendo Switch Sports is the latest game from the massively popular series that started off with Wii Sports, which was followed up by Wii Sports Resort.
Announced at Nintendo Direct, Switch Sports is sure to be another family favourite, and there are already plans to expand upon it with DLCs in the future.
Release Date
There isn't long to wait, as Nintendo Switch Sports will be released on Friday, 29 April.
If that seems too far away for you, then don't worry, as Nintendo will also hold an online playtest from Friday, 18 February through to Sunday, 20 February, which will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members.
Sports Included
Switch Sports will see six sports included initially, with three returning favourites and three new ones, with an additional sport being added in the autumn.
Tennis
An absolute classic of the franchise, get ready to swing your controller like a maniac once again as you try to beat your opponent in a match.
For complete novices of the game, there is no better place to start than Tennis.
Bowling
Another classic from Wii Sports, Bowling can be as simple or complex as you make it.
Whether you choose to prioritise power, accuracy, or flair, show off your skills and get as many strikes as you can.
On Switch Sports, you have the option to all bowl at the same time too, so there will be no waiting around for slow players.
Chambara
Battle against your opponent with this variation of swordplay from Wii Sports Resort.
The aim is to hit your foe off of the raised platform, but don't just focus on an all-out attack, as learning the defensive skills will be important for survival too.
Soccer
A new addition to the franchise, the aim is simple - get the oversized football into the opposition's goal.
You can use a leg strap with the Joy-Con controller to kick the ball in Soccer, although this will only be available in the Shoot-Out mode from the start.
There will be a free update coming in the summer that will let you use the Joy-Con controller and leg strap accessory in full Soccer Matches.
Badminton
The inclusion of Badminton looks to be an easy win for Nintendo, using a similar swinging motion from Tennis but wrapped into a different game.
Gentle rally and toy with your opponent before unleashing a powerful smash shot.
Volleyball
Volleyball looks to use a more precise set of movements to play different shots.
Use the Joy-Con controller to serve, bump, set, and spike the ball in this 2v2 game.
Golf
Although it won't initially feature upon release, a second free update will come in the autumn when Golf returns in Switch Sports.
It's another old favourite, which could pave the way for Nintendo to introduce even more sports to the game via DLCs, whether that be more returning ones or new additions.
Switch Sports Multiplayer
Of course, Switch Sports will offer local multiplayer options, with a group ensemble being one of the great joys from previous games.
Additionally, you can play online through matchmaking, and try to reach the Pro League in various sports.
You can team up with a friend on the same console and play team sports online too.
As you play online you will gain points, which can be redeemed for rewards to accessorise your avatar with.
The rewards will rotate weekly, so make sure you act quickly if there is a certain accessory you want to get your hands on!
