NHL 22 has been relatively quiet for some time, but things just kicked into high gear only a few months before the title's now announced release date.
With a flurry of information revealed today, here's all the new details that have landed about NHL 22 from next gen gameplay to cover athlete and more!

We knew that there would be an NHL 22 trailer today, but fans got a lot more than just that!
The official reveal trailer featuring next gen gameplay, which you can view in full below, gave our first look at true next gen hockey.
Superstar X Factors were heavily featured, but the biggest news came closer to the end of the trailer as we confirmed this year's cover athlete.
Returning just two years after being on the cover of NHL 20, Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs will be the face of NHL 22.
We also learned that the official release date for NHL 22 is October 15, 2021, and it will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5 that day.
With NHL 21 having decided to stay on current gen only, this will be the very first time we get the EA Sports NHL franchise on next gen platforms.
Despite hope by many fans of a PC release, as of now it doesn't look like that's in the cards for NHL 22, as it was left out of the trailer and isn't on their official pre order page.
Price, Pre Order, and more
NHL 22 is now official and only a few months away, and that means it's already time to look at placing a pre order!
There will be two different editions: the NHL 22 Standard Edition and NHL 22 X-Factor Edition.
The Standard Edition will be $59.99 on current gen platforms Xbox One and PS4, while the Standard Edition will be $69.99 on next gen platforms Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
