NHL 19: Philadelphia Flyers Player Ratings, Roster & Top Prospects

Having smashed their way into the Metropolitan Division’s playoff places last season, the roster of top young talents infused with superstar veterans was expected to take the next step towards becoming a full-time playoff contender again. But, the frailties in their net which were masked by unstoppable scoring sessions have been exposed this season. Bar their goaltending corps, this team is well-equipped and is a great team to play as in NHL 19, given their strengths now and the grand potential of their youngsters.

Claude Giroux further proved his world-class credentials last season, clocking in a massive 34 goals and 102 points. In NHL 19, his puck skills of 93 or greater coupled with his 91 speed stats make him an almighty player to have on your team. This season, he’s been leading the Flyers again, scoring 52 points through 48 games and will continue to be their most valuable player over the next few years.

Shayne Gostisbehere, Defenseman, 86 OVR

Still only 25-years-old, Shayne Gostisbehere has already established himself as one of the most dangerous defensemen to have on the blueline in an offensive situation. Last season, he notched 13 goals and 65 points but has seen a drop in his production this season. He’s still firing a huge volume of shots, but far fewer are resulting in points. With 94 deking, 92 passing, 92 puck control, 89 stick checking, 91 across the speed stats, and four-and-a-half stars for shooting, he’s a very user-friendly weapon to have on the team.

Brian Elliott, Goaltender, 82 OVR

It once looked like Brian Elliott was going to step out of a tandem at the St. Louis Blues and take a starting role for himself. But, three seasons on, Elliott’s performances haven’t warranted a bigger role, with his long-term injury this season contributing to the Flyers’ unraveling. For Philadelphia, it’s all about waiting for top prospect Carter Hart to establish himself in the NHL crease.

From the Day 1, September 13 update, this is how the Philadelphia Flyers’ first lines start. With the exception of Elliott in net, there are few starting line-ups in NHL 19 which are as dangerous and fun to play with than that of the Flyers. There’s simply too much playmaking ability for it not to produce goals in most games.

Carter Hart, Goaltender, 70 OVR

The Philadelphia Flyers have been happy to get on with a tandem of average NHL goaltenders because they know the immense potential that Carter Hart possesses. The team has, however, been forced into playing Hart in the NHL this season, having gone through five other goalies beforehand. With six wins, a 2.66 goals against average, and .918 save percentage through 12 games as a 20-year-old, Hart is well on his way to developing into a top goaltender.

Over the last four seasons, the Philadelphia Flyers have infused many of their top prospects into their NHL lines, with the likes of Travis Konecny, Shayne Gostibehere, Ivan Provorov, Nolan Patrick, Travis Sanheim, Oskar Lindblom, and Robert Hagg breaking through. But it doesn’t stop there for Philly as more are on the way, with Adam Ginning, Morgan Frost, and German Rubstov all boasting great potential.
