News of the Dota 2 world and upcoming events of February 2024

The new Dota 2 season is going to be quite different from the previous one. That is because Valve canceled the DPC. This means that Major tournaments will no longer be held. Still, Valve championships are replaced by ESL championships, and there is no way to claim they are inferior to the Majors.

Thus, a few major events are planned for 2024, which are of interest to both players and bettors. At many of them, teams will be able to earn EPT points and get an invitation to one of the most anticipated events of this year, which is the eSports World Cup. The latter will start in the summer. However, for now, there are still a few worthy winter events.

February 2024: what events to follow

Those who are interested in betting on esports and especially Dota 2, should follow the events that are now held. Their results will influence the further events and overall success of the teams. Thus, two big events approach in February 2024.

Games of Future 2024

This novel event brings together many disciplines. Still, it is worth paying special attention to the Dota 2 part, which is included in the general program. Here, the competition will proceed for the fund of $1 000 000.

The main data about it is as follows:

It starts on February 19,

The last day is February 25

Among 16 teams, there will be LGD Gaming, Beastcoast, and Xtreme Gaming.

DreamLeague Season 22

As for this event, it is one of the most anticipated by the whole community. It is not because only of the prize, which is $1 million but also due to the EPT points that can be earned. They allow teams to rise in the rankings and have a chance to receive an invitation to the next event from ESL.

Therefore, keep in mind that:

The event starts on February 25;

It will end on March 10;

Prize fund is $1,000,000;

Available EPT Points reach 18,550.

This one is the first significant event of the year. In addition, it is going to serve as a launching pad for the annual ESL Pro Tour rankings. This championship is prestigious and is held under the patronage of ESL.

The event will bring together 16 top teams in this discipline. They secured their participation in it in two main ways. The first option was winning the qualifying rounds (both open and closed). The second was the special invitations from the organizers, which some of the teams received.

The qualifications were held in seven different competitive regions. This became a special feature of this year. The regions included MENA, from where 12 teams qualified. The other places were taken by the leaders of the ESL Pro Tour rating (ESL’s internal system for assessing the gaming achievements of teams).

The prize for the competitors will be taken from the total fund of $1 million. In addition to it, teams will compete for important points. The latter are required to receive invitations to future events organized by ESL.

The format gathers 16 teams, namely 4 from the leaderboard and 12 from regional qualifiers as we have already mentioned. All the regions of the world are going to be presented here, making the event even brighter and significant.

At first, we will follow the group stage. During the first four days, there will be two games for two single-round groups. The best four competitors are going advance to the second stage, while the others will leave the competition.

Then, the second part will be organized during the following week with one round group of eight teams. The top players are going to proceed to the upper playoff bracket and teams with 3rd and 4th places will be taken to the lower bracket. Others will be eliminated.

At last, playoffs are expected on March 9 and 10 with an elimination bracket after two losses and matches except Grand Final Bo3. The Bo5 Grand Final will also be held during this period.

Altogether, the new Dota 2 season starts with significant and unsurpassed events that are worth following and betting on.
