The Legion-like fighter Ermac is back in Mortal Kombat, and beginning April 16, he will bring with him the full range of moves worthy of a thousand souls.

It has been a while since Empress Mileena defeated Ermac and brought back King Jerrod from the dead. However, a resurgence was inevitable, and Ermac once again reasserted control over the legions of souls under his command.

Now, free from the shackles of Quan Chi's magic and the constraints of the royal family, Ermac returns to Mortal Kombat 1 as a playable fighter. You can unlock him via downloadable content (DLC) starting on April 16.

The announcement by Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios also came with a gameplay trailer.

The gameplay trailer demonstrates the full range of attacks and combos you can unleash with Ermac under your control. This includes a devastating Fatality where Ermac dismembers the opponent by turning their body around like a clock and sever limbs, only to forcibly bring the body back together in a gory heap.

You can also see Ermac perform a critical strike by summoning a trio of spearmen souls and magically pulling back the opponent's body to impale them on the ghostly pikes.

Owners of the Kombat Pack expansion can access Ermac early on April 16. Ermac becomes available for all players a week later, on April 23.

Aside from Ermac, the gameplay trailer also showcases the Red Dragon commander Mavado. Mavado joins Mortal Kombat 1 not as a main character, but a support character during matches.

Mavado is a part of the Kombat Pack, but can also be purchased as an additional character starting next month, May 2024.

Mortal Kombat 1 can be played on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch and PC. PC players can grab the game both on Steam and Epic Games.
