MyTEAM Draft Update
Perhaps the most significant Season 3 update for NBA 2K23 MyTEAM is the changes coming to MyTEAM Draft.
To make it more competitive, the game is now going to contain cards from a single gem color, making your preference the most important factor in selecting players for your lineup.
You can still flip the cards to check out the attributes but in-game balancing will be a lot easier and each position pack will be a different gem color.
Another big change is reward player cards will now be available to select from the position packs in addition to the latest card releases. Now, you'll be able to test out some of the best cards in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM.
NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination Update
Season 3 is also bringing an update to the NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination game mode, giving you a chance to pick up Evolution cards.
Amethyst Randle, Diamond Richmond, Bibby, & Walton, and Pink Diamond Havlicek are the cards that you'll be able to upgrade.
Completing the Domination game mode along with the Trophy Case event will help you add several strong cards to your NBA 2K23 MyTEAM lineup.
Now, let's take a look at one big competitive change that will debut in Season 3.
Competitive Gameplay Changes
Towards the bottom of the Season 3 Courtside Report a big change was revealed for NBA 2K23 MyTEAM.
In regard to position lock in various MyTEAM game modes, the ability to do so will be taken away at the start of Season 3.
You can read the full report here, but we're going to fill you in on a change quoted directly from the report.
"The latest patch for NBA 2K23 includes an update that needs to be highlighted here. In an effort to maintain fair and competitive gameplay, we have removed the ability to use Position Lock in Unlimited multiplayer games due to anti-competitive trends impacting the wider experience of Unlimited players. You will still be able to compete in other multiplayer and single player modes with Position Lock enabled, but going forward you will need to use Team Control while competing in Unlimited."
This is definitely going to affect how people play in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM so expect to see a lot of comments on Twitter very soon.
