The Brooklyn Nets are stuck near the bottom of the rankings as they work their way through a tough rebuilding process. With several players showing the potential to be quality role players and very few showing signs of a sudden breakout to stardom, this franchise may struggle for quite some time. If the stars align and D’Angelo Russell and Jarrett Allen can get things figured out together, maybe they can get this team moving forward.
Starting Lineup
D’Angelo Russell, PG (OVR 83)
Age: 22
Position: Point Guard
Height: 6’5”
Traits: Offensive Star
Best stats: Mid-range, Ball Handling, Layups
D’Angelo is one of the few players that everyone has had their eyes on. After above-average showings in his past two seasons, he is seen as someone that is needed to push the Nets into the top brackets of play. He has a contract worth $5.1 million, and sits pretty well with 15.5 pts averaged last season, as well as 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists.
Spencer Dinwiddie, SG (OVR 79)
Age: 25
Position: Shooting Guard
Height: 6’6”
Traits: Crafty Playmaker
Best stats: Passing, Ball Handling, Lateral Quickness
Although labeled as a Point Guard, Spencer Dinwiddie is most likely going to be put into the shooting guard position due to the appearance of D’Angelo Russell. Although his stats are lacking, they certainly improved over the past season, nearly doubling his normal average points per game to 12.6, and pushing his assists to a decent 6.5 per game, making him the ideal rising star.
DeMarre Carroll, SF (OVR 77)
Age: 31
Position: Small Forward, Power Forward
Height: 6’8”
Traits: Two-Way Wing
Best stats: Lateral Quickness, Layups, Stamina
DeMarre Carroll has had a fairly rough time so far. Although at the age of 31, he is seen as a little past his prime, his numbers have improved since his time on the raptors back in 2016. He went from single digit point averages to 13.5 per game, as well as 6.6 rebounds, up from 3.8 in 2016. One can only hope he will be worth the rest of his $13.6 million contract he made in 2015.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, PF (OVR 78)
Age: 23
Position: Power Forward
Height: 6’7”
Traits: Wing Defender
Best stats: Vertical, Speed, Mid-Range
At 23 years of age, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is seen as being on the up. Although the Nets have been looking extremely weak, with the addition of D’Angelo at the front, Rondae may be able to make use of his high 6.8 rebounds per game average. At $1.335 million salary, he is someone under the radar, but he may be a surprise, as his points have entered the double digits with his 13.9 average in 2017.
Jarrett Allen, C (OVR 78)
Age: 20
Position: Center
Height: 6’11”
Traits: (include any special traits etc)
Best stats: 87 speed, etc (minimum of 3 stats)
A young sprout that seemed to be picked up pretty high on the listings, Allen has yet to show that he has the capabilities to be a star in that center position. Last season he only averaged 8.2 points a game with 5.4 rebounds, which is a little low as his fellow teammates have more rebounds. But, with his highlight reels, he may have a few surprises if he can tag team with D’Angelo.
