NBA 2K19: 2011-2012 New York Knicks Player Ratings and Roster

This team was full of drama all season long, but has plenty of depth and exciting players. Carmelo and Amar’e were still solid players back then, Tyson Chandler was healthy and relevant and the emergence of Linsanity was at its peak. While they finished with a 36-30 record and a first round loss to the heat, players of 2K19 can at least have some fun with it.

Starting Lineup

Jeremy Lin, PG (OVR 85)

Age: 23

Height: 6’3”

Traits: Two-Way Star

Best Stats: Mid-Range, Ball Handling, Stamina

No one expected much out of the former Harvard player, but Linsanity became a global icon during this season. While the focus was on the stars of New York, Lin averaged 14.6 points, 6.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game. These numbers are actually not a true indicator of his performance this year due to limited minutes early on. Once he was given a starting role, Lin averaged 18.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.

J.R. Smith, SG (OVR 78)

Age: 26

Height: 6’6”

Traits: All-Around Shooting Guard

Best Attributes: Vertical, Stamina, 3 PT

Smith has always been known as a scorer and his years in New York were some of his best. While the next season would be the best of his career, this one had him averaging 12.5 points, 1.5 steals and 1.9 3-pointers made per game. Partially due to an injury plagued season, Smith had a hard time getting things going this year.

Carmelo Anthony, SF (OVR 88)

Age: 28

Height: 6’8”

Traits: Skilled Sharpshooter

Best Stats: Ball Handling, Stamina, Post Offense

Carmelo was expected to be the savior for Knicks fans as they gave up a king’s ransom to get him. His stat set of 22.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game were solid, but his inability to carry a team to a title has always been the knock on his game.

Amar’e Stoudemire, PF (OVR 86)

Age: 29

Height: 6’10”

Traits: Athletic Finisher

Best Stats: Vertical, Post Offense, Dunks

Amar’e arrived in New York as the main star of the team. He was on his way to MVP-heights until Carmelo joined. He fell down to averages of 17.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game during this season while only playing 47 games. The combo never quite meshed to reach the desired potential.

Tyson Chandler, C (OVR 87)

Age: 29

Height: 7’1”

Traits: Elite Rim Protector

Best Stats: Rebounding, Blocks, Strength

For many years, Chandler has been known as an imposing interior presence. Behind averages of 11.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks, he was considered an ideal center for any contending team.
