Ewing was an All-Star, Starks was the top 3-point shooter in the league and Anthony Mason was the 6th man of the year. This combination of talent across the roster sure sounds like a recipe for success. It actually was to some extent, with the Knicks finishing 2nd in the East and a 55-27 record. Smith was a decent power forward option and could score somewhat efficiently. Playing some as a starter and some as a bench player, Smith averaged 12.7 points and 1.3 blocks per game. However, his rebounding was relatively weak for his position and height, averaging only 4.3 per game.
