Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate - Next-gen remaster has brand new additional content

When you think of a fighting game, Mortal Kombat is usually the game that comes to mind first. Its brutal fatalities, iconic characters and seamless gameplay keep it at the genre's forefront nearly 30 years after its first game.

Mortal Kombat 11 was released last year to rave reviews and MK fans will be pleased to know that MK11 will be coming to next-gen. MK11: Ultimate will be released later this month, but what exactly is new about this edition?

We've got everything you need to know about Ultimate right here!

More of what you love

MK 11: Aftermath was a blast and if you want more, you're in luck! Ultimate will have more than ever to play with. While Ash Williams of Evil Dead isn't confirmed, John Rambo is.

HE'S HUNTING YOU: Rambo is back in MK11 Ultimate!

Rambo is included with both Mileena and Rain in a new DLC pack, as Rambo makes his way onto a new collection.

This is a huge opportunity for Mortal Kombat to establish itself on the next-gen consoles while developing MK12.

Crossplay is being rumoured as well, which will allow Xbox and PlayStation gamers to compete against each other. What has been confirmed though is that players will be able to use customised fighters in ranked matches.

There's good news on the money side as well. If you've already purchased MK11 on current-gen, you can upgrade to next-gen for free.

How fighting games will change

With a new generation of consoles comes more performance power to play with and new hardware to utilise. The PS5's DualSense controller, for example, has haptic feedback, which could be huge for fighting games!

Ed Boon, MK11's director, has already expressed a lot of enthusiasm for the next-gen. What has peaked his interest the most is the speed of the new systems' SSDs.

To top it all off too, support for MK11 won't stop. The game will continue to receive patches and expansions for the foreseeable future.

Release Date

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will be released worldwide on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X, Switch, Stadia & PC on 17th November.
